thank you for the information, i got a tinnitus on both ears 5years now (26years old) and i really felt that my tinnitus was influenced by the loudness of the game, 3minutes reserve alarm or shooting a weapon without headset on really hurted my ears.
UPDATE i have sent in the compression software layed out in this video to bsg along with others and they have replied to me stating that it is 3rd party software and against the rules to use the software in this video i cannot share reports as i dont want to get banned however when the support ticket is closed i will be able to share. dont get banned because some noob cant hear guys
The frequency balance does not change with a compressor, it's the amplitude. The only way the frequency balance will start changing with a compressor is multiband or spectral compressors, which are wildly uncommon anyway. Besides, tarkov compresses the ever living hell out of the game for the players with the headsets, adding more compression offers no real advantage because there is a specified range and occlusion from objects where sound completely disappears.
Um, he says some false stuff about compressors. Saying they don't focus on individual frequencies is flat out wrong. A single band compressor he is correct, however with multiband compression you can narrow each frequency range to your desire and control (threshold, attack, knee,ratio etc) so if you grab a 10 band compressor then you have alot of options. You can squash frequencies carrying things I don't want lower their ratio and increase the bands you do want such as 500-2kkhz range surgically to get complete clarity on steps. You can also set extreme ratios for these and very low thresholds so anytime someone makes a movement it will amplify the hell out of it if you so choose. This combine with a EQ is a questionable advantage. I have used digital audio workstations for 10 years regularly using multiband compression. They are very surgical in frequency ranges and applied as such. So, the YouTuber saying broad strokes is flat out false.
I tried this out today it’s great. actually more of a public health awareness issue like you said. and I thank you very much for this. I was in the military and already have some hearing damage but I was not paying attention to further damage. Thank you sincerely!
Yes it probably does give a small advantage, no it's not cheating. Having a better PC, better internet connection, would probably give you a better advantage. After all this isn't an eSports title nor are we in a league setting, with controlled hardware and network. However the point you're arguing is flawed, suppose your graphics card would have a setting "make every texture x% transparent" and people would be running about with 20% transparent texture, would that not be cheating? I think you would agree it most certainly is.
I loaded into a raid once and there was no ambient sound. No wind or rain. Jus bushes and footsteps. When people think of compression they think that is what's happening.
Its not cheating yet, it actually makes the noise muddy due to all frequencies being squashed/compressed at once …. but if you were to EQ the frequency range of a PMC/Scav footsteps and only compress that frequency range, that would be advantageous. Would be easy to figure this out using a freq analyzer . GG
Compression is also built into the “Active headsets” in the game. Whoever said that’s cheating is idiotic. Listen to an airdrop with Comtacs vs Sordins. Sordins it sounds like a light breeze. Comtacs the airdrop sounds like u have a hairdryer on full blast inside both ears lmao
I like my hearing as well as my Lapua. I see no more advantage from this as I do from looking up loot maps or parkour guides do the research and gain an advantage over the casuals. Anyone can crank there volume and hear everything I can with compression difference is when the gun fight starts my ears don't bleed. Haha I was writing this listening to it video pretty eased we made the same point. Seriously tho cheating lol so if u ever mess with ur EQ in windows ur cheating Nvidia control panel cheating discord cheating ECT ECT is a comfort issue way more than a advantage.

your sound compression program does change the sound files.
tarkov has allowed nvidia control pannel stuff and graphics buffering stuff.. getting a program to boost foosteps is literally an unfair advantage and an auxiliary program. whats hard to understand here??
