How Video Games Helped me get 1sts at Cambridge University

My 13 year old PS3 and my 15 year old PSP (both still working like champions) need to get an honourable mention for helping me become the person I am today. In this video, I break down my own experiences and the scientific research to understand how video games go beyond entertainment and actually impact our meta-cognitive ability.

I’m not making this video to encourage people to start playing video games, or even increase the hours you are playing. I’m making this video to help you educate your misguided parents. And make them realise that video games bring true educational value that help us develop transferrable skills and form a learner’s mindset. In other words, they are not just a waste of time. And thankfully, over the last few years, an emerging scientific community centred around investigating the educational benefits of commercial gaming has been recognising its merits and has dubbed it edutainment. So let’s get into it and see how gaming can actually improve our academic ability.
