Before I was pronouncing all the name pretty closely to how it’s supposed to be said exept for zhongli and xinqiu. So I watched the same vid and now I can pronounce all the names almost correctly I’m happy I did

honestly, as long as you get the phonetic pronunciation correct, most chinese speakers wont knock english speakers for leaving out the tones

I had a hard time pronouncing their names too because there weren't accent marks on top of the letters to guide me how to pronounce the character's names. But that is for me anyways.

I get that people want to get the pronunciation correct, which is great, but I don’t think people should expect others to get the tones correct in normal conversation. English speakers don’t use tones to convey meaning like Mandarin Chinese does so maintaining those tones in English conversation seems like a more advanced thing in my opinion. Other than that I’m always happy to see people trying to get pronunciation correct.

The things you called accents are tones. Also, changing the tone of the word will change the word. (I’m currently studying Mandarin.)
Pinyin is just how the words are pronounced but written using the English letters. Pinyin for Chinese is Romaji for Japanese if that helps.
I’m chinese hehe you got some of the tones wrong but other than that this is great! Seeing other ppl trying to learn chinese makes me happy haha
