  1. Xiao smiling when the lanterns were released is such a good moment, It goes to show that he does care about the festival, he does care about the wishes of the people of liyue and he does appreciate what they do in honor of the adepti.

People mistake Xiao not wanting to go with the traveller as him just being mean and cold, when that couldn't be further from the truth, the reason he doesn't want to go is laid out by him, he simply feels too out of place among the peace of the people of liyue, his presence can actually put the people of liyue in danger, the very people he swore to protect, so he feels completely left out.

He is curious and wants to reach out to the human world, but at the same he does not feel like he can ever fit in because of his role as the vigilant yaksha, he carries this pain with him at all times, every lantern rite for hundreds of years, so it's so nice for the traveller and Paimon to actually make an effort to reach out to him, and we see their efforts pay off in the end with Xiao's smile!
