Imagine if 343 made Halo Infinite for noobs INSTEAD of esports

Imagine if 343 made Halo Infinite’s multiplayer more focused on casual players and noobs, rather than competitive players. Playing more MCC lately made me realize just how well Halo 3 balanced casual and competitive play.

  1. If you design the game around casuals, that just means competitive players will crush them on their own turf.

Thinking that designing a game solely around casual gamers will make the game casual friendly is a mistake. Because the competitive players still plays the game.

If the game design is easily exploited because the maps and mechanics are made with only casual players in mind, then the good players will abuse the shit out of that.

Halo 3 was designed with both competitive and casual players in mind. What halo 3 did differently was properly rewarding competitive players with globally visible ranks, and giving casual players playlists with AR starts (a bad gun with lots of RNG, which is hated by competitive players).

  2. problem with H5 was not only that the matchmaking was designed for competitive but that the movement has such an insaaaaaane skill gap that like track people who are crouch-thrust-springjump-ghandhop-strafing is virtually impossible for players who arent as talented

  3. I would kill myself literally if they made the game for noobs, they should just have a separate mode for casuals and ranked mode for sweats and some of the weapons or abilities or things that are OP and nooby just keep them in the casual Playlists and the comp settings keep it in the ranked stuff just because a game is ultra competitive doesn't mean it's not fun just look at CS and Valorant these games are extremely fun yet ultra competitive and the skill gap is probably higher than halo it's not that the game is competitive that makes it not fun the developers just need to figure out the new mechanics and gun play for halo and make it funner and more unique in someways that's all I actually think making the game more nooby would kill the core fan base and maybe bring a new fan base temporarily that will die out within a year easily we need a halo 2 h5 blend type of game with complex tech and fun gunplay with cool movement and a high skill gap with a good campaign.

  4. I would say halo reach was the last halo game like how you described where noob stuff like armour abilities and pro elements were different. Reach was too casual and had awful maps and reticle bloom which was just soo terrible that casuals and pros didn’t like it and it sort of killed the game for a lot of people. They need a halo reach/halo 4 combo in abilities and load outs for casuals. In addition to standardized gameplay for MLG. Hopefully talking out those two features for MLG and finding a way to increase the skill gap In ranked playlists with movement, map control and equal starts. We have seen catering to noobs in reach and halo 4 with ordinance and lack of balanced maps and that can’t happen again. We have also seen that with a huge skill gap like halo 5 it’s really difficult to become even half decent at the game without a lot of work and like you said most people just give up because they don’t want to put that work in. In Some form pick up and have fun needs to be there and super sweaty gameplay need to be available to those who want it. Hopefully they don’t neglect one or the other like they have been in recent years

  5. I just started playing the multiplayer in the MCC and I personally think halo 3 is really sweaty and that reach is more casual. I just need to give halo 3's multiplayer a chance.

  6. I definitely understand what your saying here, and tbh is something I thought about a lot. Making the game to be casual has more possibilities to be fun. It also allows for a lower bar of skill to play, allowing anyone to have fun regardless of skill level. And at the same time it doesn't mean that it cant be a competitive game just because its easier to play. Its usually the players themselves who make the game competitive and it can definitely be competitive for those who want it to be. Its like the best of both worlds.

  7. Preach! My thing was just a way bigger focus on those same community features that made Halo 3 great from the start. There's a lot of gametypes that the community created within Halo 5 that would be perfect within a social playlist.

  8. I think the maps also have alot to do with replayability for everyone. They have to be fun and add an interesting dynamic like they did in Halo 2 and 3. I feel like 343 has really whiffed on their MP maps.

  9. although i understand what you’re saying, this won’t necessarily fix the problem, player’s obviously strive to get better at something and if they’re first on that bus to improve and you later run into said player after just starting up the game, there’s no doubt you’ll have to sweat to even compete with said player, it’s not necessarily the game’s fault, but rather the player’s who want to succeed in bettering themselves at something would be the problem, unfortunately it’s nothing you or the game developers could do to fix that problem besides making a playlist that’s just a coop pve game mode, because in game’s with an opposing player or team there’s no way you could counter someone being better than you and pummeling you into the ground making you sweat, even halo 3 when i first played multiplayer i had to deal with sweats who made the game harder than what it needed to be

  11. In Halo Infinite I'd like the weapons like smg and assault rifle to work like the smg in halo 3 recon slayer.
In halo 3 recon slayer, killing ennemies with the ODST smg is way more satisfying and simple.

  12. I like to sweat and I like going up against sweats there's something I find so fun about taking another person down when they're trying there best to stay alive I just hope they have ranked or pro leagues or something because I love going up against sweats its fun to me lol

  13. You keep coming up with genius ideas, I just keep watching your videos and shouting yes we need that! 😂
I know you doubt it will ever return but I feel like a lot of noobs/casuals want duel wielding to return. Holding two smg and pulling both triggers released the thrills and shouts!
    Until they get wrecked

  14. This is the only reason why the delay could be a good thing. If the game came out last fall, the only beta testers would have been esport-guys. Now at least same normal players can get into beta flights and may get some feedback heard
