Elune as a character is nearly impossible to pin down in World of Warcraft Shadowlands. WoW Shadowlands brings some of the best Warcraft Lore yet and the Shadowlands may be our first chance to see the story of Tyrande the Night Warrior and Elune.

What if elune get her powers from the creatures that worship her no worshipers no power could explain why she has temples on every planet
T'PAARTOSSSSSS!!!!
Watch Elune be half fair and the other half of her face dead like. To represent her two moods.
Didn't the Winter Queen said that she has a sister? Maybe Elune is her sister?!
Be kinda neat if Elune was imprisoned by the Jailer and us defeating him releases her. He is called the Jailer – not the Jailed. Would feed into the Greek mythos of the titans defeating and imprisoning their parents. Elune easily mirrors Nyx – who gave birth to Thanatos (death / Zorval) and Hypnos (sleep / Ysera or Azeroth?). She even gave birth to Hecate (Goddess who holds TORCHES and KEYS) even be described as a Cosmic World Soul ( Sarah Iles Johnston, Hekate Soteira, Scholars Press, 1990.)
I think she is the true goddess like the god in lord of the rings so she can’t just interfere like in lotr. But I think she has avatars which she acts through but are lesser version. For example Ysera and Freya. So they are Elune sort of.
you are the best in lore, i love hearing you talk whille i make lunch =D
So, when I first delved into Elune I read a story on some wiki which was effectively the taurens creation story, about the earth mother and the skyfather, I cannot attest to its validity, nor to its authenticity, it has however consequently informed my thoughts with regard to Elune.
So effectively the story is an extrapolation of the origin of the titans in Greek mythology, with Elune and her twin, who's name escapes me, potentially fulfilling the role of the Titans (Greek).
In this story the skyfather and the earth mother create Elune and her sister to create the day and the night on Azeroth, in that context Azeroth would consequently be the earth mother or Gaea (Gaia) with the skyfather being currently unknown in WoW whilst representing Uranus.
Now, to my mind this places an interesting question, is Elune a Titan, or, are Elune and her sister the creators of the Titans, extrapolating from the lore of balance druids where their lunar powers are arcane energy, whilst their solar powers are nature energy, are the twins themselves the originators of both the titans and the wild gods.
This begs the question, who is Uranus, is he as the Greek mythos suggests, a primal god, which we obviously understand to have a huge impact upon the early races of the WoW universe, not only trolls and tauren, also orcs and draenei.
So would it be fair to assume that void, less so represents shadow in opposition to light, or as antimatter in opposition to matter, the element, the primal gods.
With new information coming from Shadowlands we understand the influence the void holds over the legion through the machinations of the nathrezheim (hope I spelt that correctly).
If I'm not mistaken, and please tell me, the primal gods of Azeroth, were either defeated or atleast suppressed by the Legion.
With these premise, I hope, that my theory can take form.
The states of matter (elementals) and antimatter (void) engage in conflict, the later, with no direct method of aggression, influence lesser beings to in-turn lead others to engage in conflict against their (void) chosen enemy, I think of this as natural states of conflict rather than one with a catalyst, for example, brushing electrical fields, literal polarization rather than polarising motivations.
This act in turn drives the former (elementals) to retaliate with the creation of the the Titans, however, being as the third party (legion) was influenced to do so, in typical physics principals, and 'equal' and opposite reaction occured, the elements who have physical power are able to create their mechanism of retaliation, by creating beings capable of creating titans, these Titans become the balancing actors against the Legion.
The first Titan, Aman Thul, associated with time, not dissimilar to Kronos (cronos), leads the titans on a campaign of brining order (structure) to the chaos sown by the legion.
From there you can fill in the blanks, but my theory further goes toward Elune.
With the swaying of Sargeras the balance is tipped, Elune and her sister, as a mechanism of balance create a new species to counter act the imbalance, with which we enter the Loa and the wild gods, their subsequent inheritors the trolls and the tauren.
At this point I have to simply interject an assumption.
With the conflict in balance new factors need to be introduced, shadow and light.
Shadow we can promptly assume to be a gift of power from the void lords, firstly to the nathrezheim, but subsequent influenced races too.
Light however is created, for those familiar with the concept I put forward dark iron paladins as an example, the light is not a force of purity, it is a force of conviction, this is most notable amoungst the dark iron dwarves who do not achieve their light powers through communion with a naaru, but through the blessing of Ragnaros, an elemental lord.
I hope you enjoyed reading my rant, I perfectly understand if the grammar or sentence structure is poor, and please understand that I am in no way a lore buff, simply a fan, so please, poke holes, fill gaps, discuss.
what if elune is what the jailer ripped out of his chest, what if elune is what was supposed to be there
I don't know. I lean more and more towards the idea that there is no such entity as Elune, that she was made up just like so many gods are made up to help natural things make sense for a primitive people. Xal'atath may call her an "upstart" because she comes into existence – at least on Azeroth- way late in game. We do not hear about Elune until after the trolls have evolved into the Night Elves. Which makes this statement by Xal'atath support her as being either a new god or a belief system that banded the Night Elves together: "This was always a place of power. Aegwynn was drawn here, and before her, the elves, and before them, the trolls. And before them…" and…"The haughty elves of old had such regard for their own spirits."
Didn’t want to spoil it for you but Elune is the arbiter
What if the first ones, weren't really gods, but the first one of their kinds? Kinda like Galakrond being the father of dragons almost, my lore is a little hazy, but thoughts?
i dont whant to sound stupid but with this " Nightwariorr" what if Tyrande was chosen to be a vessel ? you did mention the seperation part so it coud be a possibility that Elune will emerge form Tyrande? And thats how she will be in our world? i might be wrong but i was thinking this when you first mentiond the seperation part
I believe elune is like a first one. She wasn’t created by the clockmaker at the same time of the first ones but has the same powers of the first ones. The clockmaker created elune to balance out the issues the clockmaker saw happened after the first ones did their thing. Elune had the task to balance out existence and she created reality to balance things out.
Love your vids man! If I can make a suggestion: come up with an outro. I'm listening to your vids and I think YouTube stopped playing or froze or something but nope, the vid is just over.
Yay, Batman sound bite!!! Do you think Anduin is Elune's son? LOL, just had to throw it out there since it seems like someone is always throwing out speculation about his parents. 🙂 Does it seem like when some group is super focused or solely worships/follows one of the gods or whatever (not a lore queen, sorry), that it ends up not being a good thing? For example, solely focusing or following the light or only following the void…seems like that's been problematical and wouldn't it be the same thing solely following/worshiping Elune?
keep it up beard man
No Elune is not in the Shadowlands. Her role in the cosmos is Balance. ((Had to add this.. Elune is not a bitch. :))) <3 ELUNE <3
@accolonn i think it will be good if you make video about the light as we sow she is not that good clean power but is able to do bad things too… it will be interesting
Couldn't Elune just be a "Light" Lord or a lord of the Life Realm? The Life Realm would explain why she gave Ysera the power to go where the Wild Gods go to Ardenweald and why she interacted with the Wild Gods. Also the Nightwarrior could be her connection with death like the Winter Queen's connection with Life
May be Elune has her own war in her place and busy enough 🙂
I started as a night elf hunter in vanilla, during ulduar in wrath I started my night elf death knight and mained ever since. I've always wanted more info on Elune and during bfa at the darkshore battle I was so hoping for more information, like even wondering if there was some connection between elune and death or if she didn't actually care about her worshipers or if maybe she wanted her worshipers to become undead. Of course nothing really came of the story and Elune lore still eludes us.
So in classic there is this green named leather set called Elunarian, like Elunarian gloves, boots, girdle, etc. I was farming zul'farrak and a few of those Elunarian pieces dropped from trash. I figured it was pretty important.
U r not best at the lore but you are BEST SPECULATİON channel!
1- Removing the pain from burning night elves 2- Ascending Ysera and possible many others before her to Ardenweald 3- pacifying Saurfang to the point it stopped him from killing Malfurion.. she intervenes more often than we think 🙂 she is an astral goddess
We know that Elune has more direct interactions with the trolls, the elves and the tauren (Arguably the races of nature and life) at least on Azeroth. Then in the Paladin legion order hall, we meet two elves who join the silver hand, and the NPCs theorize there may be a deeper connection between the Holy Light and Elune.
We have seen Elune work as a force of life, light, arcane, and now with the dark side, also death. One could make the argument for Fel and Void as well, considering how the different races of Elves turned out.
In this way, Elune represents the balance of reality – but why, and for whom? Is Reality to be considered a 7th cosmological force?
I also wonder if Elune has her roots in being a Loa before she rose to power as an "upstart goddess".
Elune flys around dropping monoliths to evolve us to higher races.
Why don't you call us fokkers anymore?
Elune…. damn. She's a tough one to figure out. She's not a first one tho. I'm pretty sure of that. She couldn't tame the wolf, if she were a clock maker or first one, she'd have power over something that was a part of the universe she helped build. She has great power within the universe and all it's realms because she has worshippers and followers in all its far flung worlds. She is able to share that power with her devotees, but at the cost of their mortal life. Her "nightwarrior's" and other chosen souls (mortal and immortal), are then brought directly to Ardenweald in the Shadowlands, completely bypassing the Arbiter in Oribos.
If Elune is the only Goddess that is concerned with not interfering with things maybe it's since she's on a higher tier of god-hood then all of the other gods we encounter she is only concerned with not interfering with her progeny (the Eternal Ones tied to Life, Death, Order, and Disorder) and while she takes in interest in the comings and goings on Azeroth she really only see's us as her children's pets.
Im sorry for my english..Acco i love man, u are rly good, im rly waiting when u will finish your audio books, so i can listen them.
So…Acco what do u think about that-Is it possible that Elune is lokedown like Nzoth? That 1 of the reason why she cant show her presents..And thats why no1 afrade of her..And second-Are we have confermation that Ezera was taken by Elune?May be it was some1 alse, coz Ezera is a Dragon?
Elune has corruptwd long time ago
K.I.S.S, Keeping it simple: Elune = Life Lord, Winter Queen = Sister, Ardenweld = Emerald Dream, Emerald Dream = Yersa ???
I think it might be possible that Elune betrayed her family aka the other First Ones and that's why most of them are only felt slightly
Is Elune more of a Life Lord or a Light Lord. Elune has been hinted in 5 of the 6 cosmos forces, so is Elune even bigger than the six, maybe a summoner, creator or constructor of the six???
Someone said that Elune could be the coin or balance. Ok, If reality is the doughnut hole and the six are the doughnut? Is Elune the completeness of that? The entire chart is Elune. Blizz said there were other charts. We need the Larry, Mo, and Curly charts next. Now I'm Hungry for Doughnuts, mmmmmh.
Best intro on YouTube!
Can someone please point me to where I can read/watch the Azeroth is Draenor theory? I can't seem to find it.
When you start a new NightElf toon in the NE starting zone. You eventually get to Darnassus for the first time. Isn't there a quest chain where you get to hear about Elunes first appearance on Azeroth and in or around Darnassus? Wished I could remember it exactly. I do remember being very interested in the story and found it fascinating. But, I haven't done that quest chain in like 10 or 12 years. Also, remember a story from Northrend in the Borean Tundra zone close to Wintergrasp PvP zone.
In the books War of the Ancients, the high priestess during that time was dying during the war and on her death bed, named Tyrande the new high priestess even though Tyrande was a novice back then. And during the War Tyrande was captured by Xavius’ other Satyrs and sent into Azshara’s dungeons but while a prisoner, Elune created a powerful barrier of moonlight that the demons couldn’t break. When Tyrande thought she was safe told Elune she no longer needed the protection but felt the goddess’s hesitation to drop the protection and once Tyrande was in trouble again she brought the barrier up immediately. So what happened to ysera during the legion wasn’t the first time she’s directly showcased her power to a being on Azeroth. Then during the burning of Teldrassil, in the short story Elegy Elune also influenced the elves by putting the ones who couldn’t escape into a deep sleep so they wouldn’t suffer while being burned alive. In these cases I think it definitely shows Elune as a goddess who has sympathy for her followers and love for them too, but also has a very wrathful side with the Night Warrior. It’s interesting and unfortunate that it feels like Blizzard could have done so much more to progress Elune’s story through Tyrande but kept Tyrande basically shelved till BFA, even then It didn’t feel like Tyrande had enough ‘air time’ that she deserved.
Elune seems to be a god who derives her powers from light and void at the same time. All this stuff about "balance" from her worshipers is kinda glimpse of reference to that. She grants moonlight and masters the powers of night warriors. She is kinda big cosmical boomkin, that utilizes both, the Light and the Void, but not commiting to any of them truly.
I wonder what the hell elune actually looks like.
You should link old god whispers to the new the intro and see if you can find anything.
In my opinion, elune is the creator of the titans.
Maybe Elune is the glue that ties all the cosmological forces in WoW. Since she seems to be able to dip her toe into nearly every force. Maybe she acts as a conduit and arbiter that allows mortals to wield all forms of their chosen magic. Because if I think about it, how the hell can mortals in that universe just suddenly make contact and will their magic into being? Do these forces sit and wait to be used or does someone hear them and reach out. Elune makes telepathic contact with her most devout, so she can hear the thoughts and wills of others. She seems to be in all things, so makes me think that she's the WoW version of the Abrahamic god.
Xal'atath's contradict my original theory of Elune essentially being the mother of light and void, or created in the moment of the clash of the two. Perhaps even created light and void to create a balancing mechanism in the universe. I just find it interesting that she has a light and a dark phase similar to the Naaru, which cycles between light and void. Similarly, has a hand in the Emerald Dream AND its counterpart Shadowlands.
As to what she could be, I would have to believe she's a first one. There's also An'She or whatever from Tauren lore. Is this a real, separate being? Perhaps another first one? Or just a different name for Elune? Why is there a pillar of creation named after her when the rest are strictly Titan? Is she the one that created/empowered the Titan pantheon? That would heavily lean her towards light and life, so has she played a similar game in the realm of shadow and void? Could this be why she's considered an "upstart goddess?" Because she's old and has been potentially meddling in light and void?
I also have to wonder if either have anything to do with the tale of the 7? suns told by the lorekeeper Pandaren boss encounter. Is that just a random story or is there truth behind it? Could Azeroth have been the first planet, first world soul, and those suns being the first ones that she birthed essentially?
If Zoval hates the Winter Queen does it stand to reason that he hates Elune too? If so, why? I would think Elune would be more powerful than Zoval. Whoever, wherever she is, she still has the ability to grant Tyrande the night warrior power and has influence seemingly all over the cosmos as well as create constellations out of beings like Ysera. She can also cleanse fel and old god corruption, right? She seems pretty powerful to just be some "upstart" goddess. Is Xal'Atath just bluffing because she's been forced into this predictable, shallow narrative by Blizzard writers or is she genuinely not concerned?
Anyway, whatever she is, I'm sure she'll eventually pale in comparison to some Azerothian mortal pumped up on the latest mega-baddy's juju and either become a raid boss or an assistant in a raid.
Winter Queen or the giant tree in Ardenweald is Elune
What if Elune is what the Moon is to our Earth?
In a Warcraft kind of sense where long ago, when the Titans ripped Y'Shraaj out of Azeroth along with masses of earthen debris which formed Elunaria. BUT!
What if the Titans "accidentally" also ripped out part of Azeroth's soul? Slowly, this part formed a separate identity (as to how far that goes is unclear) and Elune was "born".
Through the shadowlands, Elune was then able to contact civilizations on other planets, creating a foothold there. Of course, she did that for me, so I can deflect others trying to point out that this theory couldn't be because she is present on said other planets.
El ( in hebrew God ) + luna = God of Moon.
Moon spins around the earth ( Azeroth maybe God of earth )
and guides the children of Azeroth lol
Well, she interacted with Ysera too. Elune is the force from StarWars.
Elune is wait for it ………… A dreadlord……..
