  1. I can see why they scrapped the fireflies though- their entire function was to be food for the frogs. Players have long complained about mobs like the Bat or Polar Bear that don't have any function besides aesthetics, so it's very possible that was the reason they were scrapped- they couldn't think of another function for them and didn't want that backlash again… but in doing so, receive even more backlash from people that were excited by the prospect of fireflies, regardless of their function

  2. As far as features go, this update is great. However, Minecraft now no longer supports the MacOS version my little brother plays on for versions 1.18 AND 1.19, meaning he can't play any of the new updates anymore. I'm currently stressing my head off to find out if I can get Java 17 on 10.13.6, I'll keep you updated…

  3. the problem is not that they delayed or canceled content for me. For me the problem is that these features have been in development for the last 2-3 years and that on its own isnt an issue but the result from the amount of build up is an utter disappointment to me. It just doesnt feel like this update is changing much or trying enough to be different. This wild update feels like filler more than anything. Its Caves & Cliffs Part 3 Not The Wild update to me. Well see what comes next. I hope this update is just a fluke and not a sign of the game starting to falter. This game is still great, this update isnt bad whatsoever. Since 2018 this game has been on an upward slope and i think it finally peaked at 1.18. Hearing about the warden 2 years ago and only getting it now when it was promised so long ago, i kind of got tired of hearing about it now. I hope they take a leap with the next update and dont over promise something they cant deliver on or the games trajectory will look quite grim soon.

  4. I'd rather they slowed down on the updates and included more in it tbh. I think taking longer for updates would be better for everyone in general. Mojang, the community and especially modders. I would rather wait another few months than not have those beautiful biome updates they had shown.

  5. What they’ve done, is they’ve bit off more than they could chew. I think the majority of the community would rather quality over quantity. Most of the players now, are ogs, and aren’t going anywhere. I just wish mojang would take their time with this stuff, to make it the best, and most satisfactory it can be 😐

  6. I cant say im not disappointed, However I dont blame Mojang and am overall very content with what we did get. I LOVE what we got. its an amazing update, But i dont think it would hurt to admit it wasn't quite at the same scale as the nether update like advertised.

  7. Great Video. I think the problems people have with this update aren't related to the actual content. That's all excellent for the most part. Rather it's about promises given and expectations set by Mojang. Things that people understandably expected to be in the update, but aren't in there and now awkwardly hang in the air like missing puzzle pieces, ripped out of the whole for some reason.

  8. I think something else that needs changing are the mob votes. They create concepts, and scrap them when they lose, hence why Xisuma said "more losers than winners". I think the losing mobs need a chance to be implemented, even if it's one at a time

  9. Take a hint from No Mans Sky. The day before an update they tweet an emoji. That’s the only leaks or “concept art” they release and the community LOVES it. No speculation, no over promising, just content like a game should be

  10. I absolutely agree. I am not dissatisfied with the update itself, I am dissatisfied with their lackluster communication.

"Concept Art is not Commitment" is BS. If you show a piece of art saying "this is something we'd like to make" it's pretty much commitment.

And don't get me started on the """reasons for removing the fireflies""". Frogs don't eat them because they're toxic to them, so we're removing them? Come on, 'why yo always lying?~'. You can't say that to me with a straight face. It's absolute BS.

Also there was no need to dunk on the Java Modding community like they did. "Buh modders don't have to worry about quality and balance1!11"
No, they don't, but almost all of them do and take care and pride in their works. This comment is doing them a disservice.

So dear Mojang, 'stop f*ing lying~'

  11. I think the problem is marketing/seemingly sneaky vibes of waiting so long to say "yo this isn't happening, its just concept art". I feel like concept art should be shared AFTER the game/update releases to avoid confusion.

Most games have a museum to check the concept art of what could have been, allowing the players to see a peek behind the curtain. I feel like showing the concept art after the release could've saved a lot of grief, especially if it was paired with a very blatant statement that says "this isn't happening"

  12. The hype is the big thing that's hurting the update cycle, and to a lesser extent, the development time (he says parroting what X literally said in the video). 1.19 isn't exactly feature light- frogs can be used in many ways in-game, the Warden is a great idea for a boss (even if I can foresee it becoming a bit 'Absolute Virtue' in future updates after SciCraft et al find ways to cream it) and reinforced deepslate can be a game-changer for farms. But… we've been sold on the idea that these updates will completely change the way we play the game, and to put it bluntly, that's not even remotely true. In fact, that claim hasn't been true for a while, especially for people who've been playing for a while. The last true game changer in Minecraft was either shulker boxes or elytra (whichever was more recent, I can't remember right now), everything else has for the most part been cosmetic. With the exception of Doc's more mental inventions, it's mostly the same farms being built on Hermitcraft, albeit with fun new quirks. If Mojang really want to win back the crowd, they need to introduce something that will revolutionise the game- vehicles, flying mounts, wireless redstone, even a new dimension.

'But then it won't be Minecraft anymore'

Well, yeah, that's the point. Games age, and after a while, you do everything you can within a game and you either find a different, emergent way to have fun, or you find a new game. Mojang could even split the difference with an 'evolving survival' game mode, where you start off only with items/biomes/mobs you had in 1.0, and more features are gradually added over time, or if certain achievements are met.

I think I've wittered on long enough. Sorry X.

  13. I mean they did release 3 updates in the span of a almost a year. I am kinda little disappointed in this update, but I can appreciate the effort and work they had to do in order to get updates in check.

  14. Every new update changes the game so much. It was cool after the nether update, and even the caves and cliffs update. However, the game is so unstable with massive new content being released multiple times a year. I wish Mojang would scale back these massive updates and just spend a few years on quality of life things, such as inventory management (good solutions, unlike the bundle)

  15. This reminds me of 1.9 how on the lead up to it everyone was excited for the new combat, then it came out and everybody was disappointed. It's what stopped me playing back then. But 1.13 and onwards is kinda the renaissance of Minecraft where it's popularity has come back, but I get the impression that 1.19 is repeating the past and we're going back into the dark ages.

  16. It was 12 Jan 2014 when I finally invested and purchased my current copy of MC for just £17.18. It was a very different game back then, yet I have not had to pay a single penny more for any of the additional content. That's amazing value for money when you think about it. Right now I wouldn't care if there wasn't another update or additional content for years to come as I am happy to keep playing the game as it is. Yes, we could do with an inventory update, a few more block variants of stair/slabs etc would be nice, but this is also a sandbox game to use your imagination on and problem solve, not to be dictated upon with already defined solutions. Besides it's the community who makes MC special to me – or had until this latest fallout. To me, the entitled vocal minority, who seems to think they are owed something for nothing, have started something that can only lead to further disappointment or Mojang/MS offering more fore filled updates and charging for them – which no one really wants! Perhaps the narrative of being grateful for the things we do have speaks more about society as a whole then just an update to a game?

  17. I agree. I was looking forward to the fireflies because I felt like it would bring more life to the game. There’s no reason to have the frogs eat them in order to have them in the game.

  18. At the time I was watching this vid, 43k views: 10k likes ard 4:1 ratio, which is pretty high IMO. I think this stat has already said how well crafted this video is.

  19. Great video X. This whole thing is a big mess and I think that's because this is isn't just about the wild update but the community starting to get fed up with Mojang's poor communication and missteps over the last couple years. Hopefully Mojang can learn from this whole debacle and improve their communication with the community.
