Is Outriders Another Anthem? | The Issue With Looter Shooters

I’m afraid that #Outriders will have the same problems many other looter shooters have faced. I’ve played so many over the past 8 years, and I really hope outriders actually addresses them. I want this game to succeed, but I’m Staying cautiously optimistic.
What do you think?

  1. Most of the point of a looter shooter is basically to build up your "perfect" build. It's always been mindless grinding that's basically the hope of it. I still enjoy them because to me the whole thing for looter shooters is for the shits and giggles with friends and finding the sweet legendary weapons(outside of Warframe). However I do want to say that Outriders is another anthem is a massive mislead. Anthem promised everything and cool legendaries and all of that but brought basically nothing and a limited story. Outriders has not done that(yet) but they are also allowing more hands on with the game before it releases unlike anthem did so they likely won't run into that issue. I get where your coming from you just don't enjoy the mindless grind of looter shooters anymore and trust me I get that. You can only do dungeons, raids or arenas so many times. But gambit style game mode would not fit in every type of looter shooter because they would need to over balance a lot of weapons in some of these games. Division would be find they already have PvP mixed with pve in the dark zones. But a game like borderlands yea that wouldn't work you would spawn and instantly die from an aoe of someone's build doing millions of damage in a single shot.

  2. Yeah I’m experiencing the same problems also a lot of the newer looters games are like really buggy on release so they’re kind of DOA like anthem I like minus the bugs and other stuff like the stories kind of bland sometimes the base game play usually pretty fun like the movement system in war frame or anthem are great and made me want to keep playing but when the games are an update or kept up to date on a regular basis I just seem like if I’ve done like all the things that I wanted to do up until the next update I just stop playing because I feel like there’s nothing else to do also what I feel like the companies can do is stop trying to make the looters shooters like other little shooters like not every game has to be another destiny or another Warframe or another borderlands I’m not saying you can’t take ideas or mechanics from those games but try to be more original kind a like GodFall in away cause GodFall technically not a looter shooter to Looter slasher which is nice because I like Maily combat But it runs into the same problems other litters to do some mostly with the story saying saying all looters have a bad Warframe destiny and maybe the division and probably borderlands I haven’t play borderlands story is pretty decent but like anthem and the newer looters are eh kinda like there’s a period Like there should before anthem looters and after anthem looters you know

  3. Outriders has aggressive AI so maybe that can help a bit (specifically on your point concerning Monster Hunter as I think the super intelligent AI is what makes that game so good). Now I’m saying Outriders has that level of smart AI but here’s hoping. Big part of looter shooter love, at least for me, is building the perfect build for you so the grind is inherent but I hear ya. Good points all around.

  4. Yeah this isn't like the anthem situation at all. At least these guys are planning on finishing their game and aren't promising you the world and back. They want to give you the game first before they even plan to do any DLC. I'd rather compare this game to Remnant From the Ashes that a better comparison. Its also not a service game so it won't run into those usual problems Destiny, Warframe and The Division always run into. This game has an end and that's perfectly fine.

  5. yeah, i feel like if the enemies actually felt like they where trying to stop me from getting somewhere, instead of just throwing grunts at me so they have time to prepare a boss would make the game more entertaining, and maybe if those same enemies hit hard enough to take me out if I wasn't hitting them just as hard mattered… or something like that.

  6. I don't mind any of the stuff you mentioned. My only issue with looter games, and what ultimately kills it for me, is playing the same content over and over. The loop is so bad. Play mission on normal to get better gear so you can play same mission on hard so you can get better gear so you can play same mission on nightmare. The new content drops and you don't even need to be fully geared for that. So it's always just the same loop, playing the same missions to get better gear so you can replay it on harder difficulty.

That why I'm excited about outriders. You're getting better gear to play tougher levels. Sure there will be some grinding, but I'm grinding to get better gear to play the next expedition (which is all new content). And the once I'm done with all those I beat the game. It's not something I need to log into daily and do my daily/weekly missions and then wait months for new content. It's just a fully contained game where once I'm done I can move on.

  7. The reason some comapnaies do not do PVE and PVP is called balance issues. Also the developer already has mention that pvp would restrick them. AND NO…not all games do NOT don't need PVP. I think you need to play the game first before you make this kind of video. You are putting the cart before the horse.

  8. 1ST OFF DUDE NONE OF THE OTHER GAMES, MADE A FREE DEMO FOR MULTIPLE PLATFORMS, 2ND THE OUTRIDERS DEVELOPER'S, ACTUALLY SOUND LIKE THEY ARE HEARING, WHAT THE CONSUMERS ARE SAYING ABOUT THE PROBLEMS, WITH GAMES THESE DAYS. AND 3RD THE OUTRIDERS DEVELOPER'S, PUSH BACK THIS GAME TWICE, I BELIEVE TO MAKE SURE THEY GET IT RIGHT!!!…SO STOP BEING INSECURE, AND BE PATIENT BUT JUST WAIT AND SEE…DAM!!!!

  9. Ah yes, the cycle of calling out the game before it comes out, getting a ton of hate and dislikes, then most likely being right in a few months lmfao. I hope for the best for this game but let’s be real, the way video games are being handled and developed these days I honestly agree with your views. Hope for the best expect the worst tho!

  10. I have been playing path of exile since 2012. A game that tried PvP as a looter game with crazy loot and it could not work. And as you are praising the pvp aspect, I could create a similar video telling why it is such a bad idea to have PvP in a looter game. Mapping system creating a metaprogression for example, bosses at the end of that treadmill, recurring leagues with added new mechanics. There is so much stuff to bring a PvE looter to another level. The only thing that can break those ideoms is… PvP. No PvP in a looter game.
