The Outriders Demo is out and while the general response has been good, there are some things we need to talk about. The Demo has seen some criticism for design choices and visual blunders, but does the interesting loot and classes offset those negatives? Let’s find out.

the best part about the game i can say is that everything is usable the blue talents all make sense and the fact that legendries are random roll on the second talent is realllyyy cool
I’m pretty sure you can round corners. It’s just not fluid. You look at the corner you want to turn to and wait for the A button to pop up on that corner.
Hate to break this to you…but there's a HELLUVA lot more PC's out there than consoles lol
Game has been pretty solid on PS5, only had one total crash out in about 8 hours play. Was a little surprised how rough the game looks on next gen hardware, especially in the cut scenes, only seemed to be just about on a par with 2 year old PS4 stuff like Anthem and Div 2 imho. I did notice the shaky-cam but wasn't to affected by it thankfully. Lip sync was non-existent and I noticed a fair few instances of npc dialogue repeating a word mid sentence. On a more positive note, its real fun to play mostly played the technomancer up to lvl 7 wt5 solo, also somehow had the ice legendary sniper rifle suddenly appear in my inventory after doing the "a bad day quest"!! Still not 100% sure if I'll pre-order, maybe going to try the other classes then wait for reviews.
Keyboard layout will likely be customiable is the main game.
Motion blur isn't a big deal though 🤷♂️
Nor is camera shake. Like there both bug bears but aren't and shouldn't ruin the game for you.
The skill point negative I find doesn't deserve to be a negative.
Cover movement you didnt notice you can go to the edge and change to a different side using the cover button? I did its not an auto thing. Plus like you said Devs don't want you to be in cover.
There are a couple of audio issues but they can be fixed easily. We're still over a month out from full release.
I honestly feel the negatives you've highlighted aren't true negatives. They are more bug bears or minor irritations. It's not like when say anthem launched and the demo was totally choppy and unplayable in some cases.
I really think the game has potential, and i personally did enjoy my time in the demo. I have a few gripes though. Aside from the ones you mentioned in the video I very much dislike the way you traverse from map to map. Having the brush and debri in the way that you have to hold a button down to blast it away feels rediculously cheesy. Having everything you interact with highlighted in blue also feels cheesy. Having to load into tiny little zones 1 by 1 as you move across the map is annoying. Its 2021 and even consoles are beasts of computing power. I dont expect an entire open world but the entire map that you have available in the demo could very easily be one continuous open map without loading screens. Every time the camera cuts to a separate scene just so your character can open a door and walk through it completely breaks immersion and gives the game a very dated feeling. It honestly feels like another game that was MEANT to be an MMOrpg but was repurposed. Kingdoms of Amalur had that feeling, and so did Remnant.
Aside from those things i do think im going to buy the game, i was hoping for a more modern design philosophy when it came to the game world though. I will say that one of my favorite things about the game is the dialogue. I love that your character and the NPC you are talking too dont just stand there all rigid and boring while having some intense conversation. The fact that each dialogue choice has its own cut scene is refreshing, and the voice over are ….mostly…. done well. I also appreciate the male characters way of conveying humor. I will need to play as a female and see how the actor does there.
Agreed with pretty much everything you said tbh. Another tiny little thing most people wouldn't of noticed is if you've given your character gray hair, it often looks brown or black in different lights.
Do anymore of you guys experienxe severe lag issues when playing coop? Its due to the extend that its unplayable, experienced this two times now while my connection is good and stable.
Trickster is god tier. Pyro is a close second

And yeah, motion blur is nasty when u can't remove it.
I will probably give the demo a try once i finish P5 Strikers to see how it is or might wait till release.
I have't tried a game's demo since my childhood(like 30 years ago) and with so many ppl streaming it i might not even need to.

Good grief why does seemingly NO youtubers know how to re-bind fucking keys? Yes I've heard the "G" key is hard bound which sux but FFS just re-bind the keys!!! It's not at all just this game, I hear this for years now. Or the other fun one is people in chat "what's the jump key?" "where is the (whatever) key?"…Hit esc–>settings–>controls–>keybindings and find the fuck out…you can usually even change it!! Wow.
In my mind it is not worth it. I enjoyed it up to the point where I had to do the interupts, then I found that to be a pain, and I would rather play Anthem. I am playing solo, and maybe that is the issue, then I'm not going to play it in a group.
the rounding corners must be a pc thing. on ps5 i've been able to look at the wall on the other side of the corner and go to it pretty seamles
from all the classes Technomancer is the Easyest to solo content with it seems.. ive tried them all out and so far technomancer is teh one ive cleared stuff fastest with on world tier 5
Can’t remember the last time I’ve had so much fun. Definitely gonna pick this up.
I enjoyed so far but there are some irks I had one main one is cutscenes it felt jittery and shaky often often in my head I was just like CAN YOU STOP SHAKING CAMERA & hopefully we have more customization options
Gameplay is absolutely horrible, like a cheap ripoff of the original Gears of War.
Audio, voice acting, and story look horrendous as well.
I'm glad Valheim came out or I'd probably waste way more time on this shite than I needed to
No complaint on bugs? I found a lot, like A LOT ALOT! I had fun, but I'm worried for those bugs in this short snip bit of the game. And honestly, game doesn't need a motion blur slider, it just needs an OFF button, lol.. Like every other game that thinks motion blur is a good idea. I often find myself turning off depth deception as well, if I can, to get a cleaner look.
Good review my thoughts exactly, pre ordered because i like loot shooters . Blur is the first thing that gamers turn off , cover and camera shake need addressing. But at the end of the day they have given us a demo , things can only improve. 👍
