If speculating for a similar 7-8 year generation cycle, IMO PS5 won't outsell PS4.
1) Higher cost for entry ($400/$500) means delayed discounts and price cuts.
2) Slow transition towards PC ports dissuades certain customers; in tandem with easier means to build PCs
3) Supposedly, better competition from Microsoft.
4) (Anecdotal) Despite growing interest in gaming, there's a limit to the console base. Estimates: PS2+Xbox = 180 million. PS3+XB360 = 170 million. PS4+XB1 = 170 million.

Just my opinion but mobile games don't hold a candle to normal games. I don't expect mobile games to take a big chunk out of PS5 sales. I think for most people mobile games are something you play when you're waiting in a line or sitting on a subway.

Does Sony needs a gamepass? I really don’t think so. They are clearly focusing on ps plus. They have 50 million subscribers for this paid service. This service offers great value with ps plus monthly games, ps plus collection. It’s way cheaper than gamepass and gives you a lot to play. Service games like rocket league, fall guys, destruction all stars are perfect for this. And people are clearly buying games from third party and first party on psn which makes Sony money. All they need to do is get cloud gaming tech up and then just thrown in ps now with ps plus. Stadia tech is much better than xcloud. Xcloud is not up to par and I think it’s fair to say that the majority of the 18 million gamepass subscribers are just Xbox console users.
Be cautious it says upcoming months which sounds like it won't be much.

In terms of actual consoles in actual gamers hands, the PS5 will be lucky if it reaches the level of the WiiU the way things are heading. Worst launch in gaming history.

A lot of Star Wars? In the video games space specifically for the last generation, I can’t believe all we got for 7 years are Battlefront 1 and 2, Fallen Order and Squadrons. Lego doesn’t count. Compared to any other generation, that is shameful.

I don't think cloud gaming will have a splitting effect on the industry. It will widen the audience.
People who have always played on console, will still always want to play on console. Some people will dip into gaming for the first time because of cloud options, for sure; but some percentage of those will convert to console sales too.
So you're looking at a bigger pool, not splitting the existing one.
Why does Tim think that selling more than 114.19 million units is an easy task? The only way I see PS5 outselling the PS4 is if the life cycle for the PS5 is longer than 7/8 years which I doubt. I think this generation will be much shorter. Either way, whether I'm wrong or not, I don't think Tim should say so confidently that the PS5 will outsell the PS4 just because everyone's hype about it.
I'm hoping to see some hands on gameplay from Horizon Forbidden West, an update on Kena.
Personally I've seen plenty of Ratchet and Returnal, an Actual God of War Ragnarok gameplay or setting reveal.
Maybe Horizon Zero Dawn gets a PS5 update announcement, something about The Last of Us Part 2, maybe with a Faction reveal for PS5 and PS4.
I wouldn't be surprised if this was about things like Deathloop, Tokyo wire, Stray and Little Devil Inside.
It would be really nice if there was one decent announcement of what London Studio or the new San Diego Studio are working on.

Considering the PS4 had hardly any competition in the last generation, it's a real reach to say the PS5 will sell more. Xbox is coming in really strong and Nintendo is already dominating (the switch pro will come soon too). I don't see it happening unless the gaming market drastically expands. Having said al that, why do we even care how much these companies sell? It makes no difference to us.

One in 5 people that own a ps5 now didnt have a ps4, meaning that some people from xbox as well as pc mightve decided to experience PS after feeling they might have missed out last gen. Will it overtake ps4? That depends on whether xbox does a good job with its first party, playstations success a was a combination of its quality collection of games and xbox's general lack of any.

The ps5 could've sold 20 million units so far if they anticipated demand. Sony is doing a good job of hyping it by sparsing out what they have with low supply but endless hype, with limited 'drops' not even releases anymore just drops gone in minutes if not seconds.
So many people triggered by what Andrea said about ps5 outselling PS4 haha, she said what she said.
