A couple expecting a baby discover it’s a monster that kills when it’s scared. Terror, like all good things, begins at home. Set to a chilling Bernard Herrmann (“Psycho”) score, this eerie and shocking tale of an inhuman newborn who wreaks havoc upon the city of Los Angeles was a surprise boxoffice hit, following in the tradition of “The Exorcist.” Along with its two sequels, this cult favorite was written, directed and produced by Larry Cohen.

Very imaginative scary and creepy movie. I enjoyed watching it. Thank you YouTube for uploading this movie to be viewed for free. 😊 🤗💕👍
This is hysterical 😂
I just watched it and I literally crapped my pants. I might have to throw these pants away.
WHAT caused this lady’s baby to become THAT deformed in the first place? Horrific film. 😮😮😮😮😮😮😢😢
Wow! This is my first time seeing the original and it is quite interesting.
I have young memories of this movie. I was around 7 – 8 when this movie came out.
"If yo momma hadda baby and it come out lookin' crazy it's ALIVE it's ALIVE" 🎵🎵 That was thee joke of 1979 from the Jackson 5 off the wall skit song.
I was 10 when I saw this movie and what got me was me being empathetic and feeling the pain and sadness in his cries 😢
Yea! When this came out the preview alone scared me! 😢
I knew the mother had something to do with that baby creature, she was always smiling like nothing,s wrong, while it was terrorizing the father, first time seeing this movie, it's a good one.
Which music is scarier…….It's Alive…or…Taxi Driver.
This film is more than just a monster movie. It's psychological and family and the exended terror. The loss of a child, the heartbreak of this, the fragmented job, the media ghouls, a broken mother.
I call BS. They would have packed everything and been ready 2 wks b4 due date. That guy is a bad husband. Hes chatting with the son while she labors? Naw brother, hes on a trip to divorce town.
The real monster was the father all along.
It was scary good movie❤ when I first saw it I was at drive in I was about 10 years old
They remade the movie and was " It's Alive " and the baby was named Daniel.
Just what is "It?" 👀 🍼
I saw this when it came out, I was 12. I had to babysit that night across the street. When it was time to go down the driveway and across the street I couldn't walk past the hedges😂😂 I made my mom come get me
I remember this when I was a kid too! And I never got a chance to ever watch it until now😮
My mother wouuldnt let me watch this when it came out I was 8…now its a guilty pleasure watching it now lol
I watched this movie when i was a kid in the 70’s. It’s crazy to watch it again 50 years later.
we had this on vhs as a kid and it scared the hell out of me
1:28:12 of the dumbest scenes in horror history lol
OMG, never mind the kid—-what about the cars and the phones and the polyester shirts and smoking in the hospital and the toys?????
I'm that baby pappy.
The husband denying the baby is hilarious to me. 😂😂
Back then when this was considered scary, this movie scared me nearly to death. One of my favorite oldies💯
The music during the opening credit was even scary
OMG I remember this movie when I was a kid, my first introduction to horror😮
I've been wanting to see this for 45 years!
I always remember a creepy photo in Famous Monsters of Filmland – looking forward to it!
Oh wow. I think I used to mix this up with Rosemary’s Baby, neither of which I was allowed to watch. I’ve since seen Rosemary and her devil’s spawn now I can see this one.
So many white males, white-maleing….
Actor who played the Father gives the most touching performance when he finds his child. A parent's love is a triumph.
Really good. Going to watch more. Thank you for having it be free.
I remember seeing this ad outside a theater on an Army base in Germany. I was just a kid. The poster scared the crap out of me! I always remembered it, but could never recall the name. All I remembered was the carriage with the creepy two fingers. I used to talk about it through the years and my family thought I was nuts, saying there never was such a movie. Well, lo and behold…here it is! Gonna show them the movie this weekend!
Well, that was depressing.
The film stock is amazing….
Finally found my childhood autobiography. I wantcha to know I've been narrating stories and spreading terror since. I miss ya mom! XD
This movie looks like ot was done in the 60's way too old for me!!!!Too bad I thought I was going to enjoy it but I guess not!!!!BOOOOO!!!!!
No one’s gonna comment on how crazy sexist they all are? I mean, I know that was how it was but gah, to see it just so blatant…
Tasmanian Devil.

Watched this movie at some friend's house. I was about 11. Then had to walk home at 10pm. My friend told me that that baby is out there somewhere. I was supposed to call home before I started walking home, so my older brother could meet me halfway. He just walked about four houses away from our house. I walked till i got out of sight of my friends. Then I ran faster than Usain Bolt.
