  1. looney toons and mickey mouse were adapted into many different forms, but never a garbage adult cartoon. This just shows the kind of society of today where everyone feels like flipping classic cartoons and making them the complete opposite of what they are. At least you could always recognize mickey and bugs bunny no matter what kind of show or film they were in

  2. This show wasn't made to be watched, it was made to be talked about. It's tailor made to insult and offend everyone and now YT is overflowing with negative reviews, but then it gives the show attention, people hatewatch it and it makes money. This is literally the epitome of "there is no bad publicity".

  4. I'm so glad the Netherlands likely doesn't have to deal with this show anytime soon. I would assume it wouldn't be available over there lest it becomes more controversial over there than Tomorrow's Pioneers was over here.

  5. This isn't something I'd normally do on a non-political channel, but since it's this show I'll make and exception. Sorry Saber.

For those that don't know, this show was written for the express purpose of being Outrage Media. It's not meant to be good or relatable or even have any messages for the audience. It's meant to insult the audience and their ideals and beliefs.

It's written by a team of known transphobic bigots. They aren't good people. They don't care about their audience or even if it does well. The entire point is to make the audience mad so they can point and go "look how triggered they are over a cartoon."

    That's it.

  6. I think the fact that they made this to be woke is kinda annoying. Like, bro, you can be woke, but be good. But they should have taken a step from Owl House where they could have placed the kiss between Velma and Daphne at the end of the season. Like you don't need to cram the fact that they might be gay. But it could have been a decent part to watch if done correctly.

  7. As a desperate gay who eats up any Sapphic content that gets shoveled in front of her, it's actually almost impressive that they managed to create a lesbian kiss scene that looks so unappealing to me.

  8. I don't mind the raceswap of Velma and Shaggy, but in retrospect it's almost like a signpost or a foreshadowing of the rest of the show. Without the rest of the show, I wouldn't mind it. Shag is Shag, Velma is Velma. I think Daphne looks a lot more Asian too, for that matter. None of that would matter if it had not been for the absolute trashpile the writing is. These aren't the same characters. This isn't black Velma, this is some amalgamation of stereoytypes and racism jokes that have nothing to do with the old character. The fact that she's black is not a creative decision, or a fun spin on the character, but a vessel to make the horrible writing work " work "

  9. Notice how Fred is the only white guy portrayed as a privileged jerk who can't do anything on his own. And notice how often everyone shits on white people. I don't know how often I need to say this but privilege has nothing to do with skin color.

  10. "Who is this for?!"

Mindy. It's for Mindy, especially seeing as she's using Velma as a self insert. I feel like I'm getting an in depth look at her personal life, problems, and views. All of which have convinced me that I never want to meet Mindy.

  11. Designs suck tho. I liked a fan redesign where shaggy has actual shaggy hair, not dreadlocks (what’s the deal with drawing all black cartoon characters with dreadlocks? that’s an uncreative, lazy and suspicious design choice.)

  12. Its like they forgot these characters have to become friends by the end of the series. Idk about anyone else but I could never be friends with someone that dehumanizes me in court.

  13. I'm just so tired of the lazy anti-white trope. I get it, we're being woke and progressive and stuff, cool. Maybe make some actual.. jokes about it? Instead of just "ha ha whitey bad"? Nah, I guess the second option is easier. I watched partway through the first episode and turned it off with a big nope. 0/10

  14. It's not like a bratty smartass Velma is a DOA concept, look at Mystery, inc's Velma, She is the epitome of bratty smartassess, and yet, she is still a likable human being because A. her zingers are actually funny and B. she can still be nice when push comes to shove.

  15. I never minded the race-lifting or the adult focus and was really hoping the show would be good… but it just wasn’t. It’s not the worst thing in the world, the animation is serviceable and the writing is annoying and stupid but not Tommy Wiseau levels of incompetent but I expected a lot better. A lot of people expected better. So in that regard, WB failed miserably. This show is just sad to think about now.

  16. I like to give Mindy the benefit of doubt and say that Charlie is simply simping for her and Created Velma as another one of his "Chocolate and Roses" gifts, if you catch my drift, and she simply took the bait.

  17. "The essence of Velma is not necessarily tied to her whiteness. And lidentify so much as her character, and I think so many pcople do. so it's like, yah, let's make her Indian in thisseries.” -Mindy Kaling

Let that sink in. She basically said that “Velma’s relatable but not enough because she’s white, so let’s turn her into my race to fix her.” Some “creative” liberty
