Leave My Mind Alone! # 8 – Crazy Video Game Dreams!

Video games are fun, and fun things are addictive, right? You can easily find yourself getting completely hooked on a game until you’ve finished it. Inevitably, you’re going to find yourself thinking about it a lot. And when that happens, there’s a massive chance you’ll end up dreaming about your favourite games. I know I sure have, which is why in series, I share with you just a few of the bizarre rubbish involving gaming that my mind has conjured up. Be afraid, be very afraid.

As I’ve shown in the previous episodes, in the dream world, anything is possible: Mario & Wario can team up, Sonic and Tails become real people, Red Dead Redemption 2 has elephants in it, Pokemon games can be in Fire Emblem, etc. etc.

I have so much fun explaining about my gaming dreams, and I hope my mind can continue to provide material for this series forever.

  1. My craziest video game dream was about Golden Axe.

So I was playing as Gillius walking through a very similar area to the final stage before Death Bringer, but there are no enemies. It's just me walking around. Eventually I get to this weird grotto where my view is obscured by brick walls. After walking around some more, I come across an area with a statue, and the brick wall gives a view which emphasized it. It was the statue of the guy with troll hair holding a mace.

  2. You know speaking of dreams, I had one a few months ago where I was just myself fighting in mortal kombat. I was doing really well until I got my ass kicked by the final boss. It was Guy Fieri.

  3. Always amusing to see what kind of strange warping sleep does to the thought process.
My most common game-related dream is probably when I'm seriously involved in a game and playing it all the time, I will dream of what the final boss will be like. My dream is, without fail, always more frightening than the real thing, probably because I started gaming in the NES days when the final stage was always pure black background.

  4. once i had a weird dream about some mother/lego star wars hybrid. i had to find the eight melodies, in a very specific order, in order to defeat giygas, and some of the melodies were heavily guarded by battle droids. i couldn't get to all of them, and decided to give up. after walking through the desert and tearing up from singing the eight melodies (side note: if i already knew the eight melodies, then why did i need to find them?), i was met by gwen from ben 10 (the 10yo version, for whatever reason), of all people. she started criticizing me for something, to which i defended myself by saying whatever it was couldn't be helped. she said i was "the worst," and stormed off, to which i responded with a simple "well who needs you?" i felt bad, and so i followed the train she escaped on so i could apologize. we made up.

  5. When I was a kid (no later than first grade, maybe around Kindergarten) I had a dream where I was in the level twinkle park from Sonic Adventure 1, with Sonic, Amy and or Tails. But there was this one Almost Alien looking guy called Twinkle man who had a star shaped hole in his chest and he was the size of a small 2 story house. So he recites the first verse of Twinkle twinkle little star and shoots a star out of his chest, hitting Sonic square in the face and knocking him to the floor. With Amy and or Tails rushing to his aid. And he did it again the same way.

  7. @whoisthisgit Have you dream about a videogame in regards to a level that you were stuck on and had the solution appear in the dream and then beat the level in the videogame that you were stuck on using the solution from the dream?

  8. I don’t know if this count as a dream, but in the last days I was thinking about Dragon Quest XI.

Yes, it sounds a bit weird, but said dream is basically a retelling of one of the events that happened in the game

It started when the Luminary and his friends are in the First Forest. With all six orbs in hands, they decided to go to Yggdrasil to find the Sword of Light. However, unlike what happened in a previous timeline, the Luminary is wielding the Sword of Shadows (A corrupted version of the Sword of Light, wielded by Mordegon.). As expected, pretty much everything that happened in the original timeline is still intact, except that with the Sword of Shadows in hands, the Luminary and his friends now can defeat Jasper.

That said, unlike that happened in the uhh… “new timeline”, The Luminary kills Jasper. After defeating the evil white knight, the Sword of Shadows shatters. However, Jasper survives the fight and tries to attack the party once more. The Luminary, with mixed emotions, murders Jasper with a dagger (It’s worth mentioning that in my dream, before the Luminary breaks the Sphere of Light in the Tower of the Lost Time, Erik gives the Luminary one of his Fenrir Fangs to him to remind him of his mission of saving Veronica and avoiding the fall of Yggdrasil.). Before dying, Jasper then tells the Luminary that he’ll die as a martyr while the Luminary will die as a murderer. And then he laughs crazily.

After the fight with Jasper, the Luminary was on the cusp of getting the Sword of Light. And when he gets the sword, Heliodorian Knights shows up attacking the party. King Carnelian and Hendrik shows up, and Hendrik notices Jasper’s dead body. The black knight tries to wake up his friend, with no effort. Hendrik then yells to the party and asks them who killed Jasper. Carnelian then points on the Luminary, once again accusing him of being the Darkspawn. Jade and Rab tries to explain everything, with no efforts. Carnelian orders all the party (except Jade) to be under arrest, while the Luminary is sentenced to death. The Knights also take the Sword of Light.

On the Heliodor Castle Dungeons, the party (except Jade) are nearly losing the hope, in a situation similar to Act 2 but much worse, as their most important ally is going to be killed. Meanwhile, Jade is locked up in her room, and she is also in her lowest point. The Luminary’s situation is even worse, as he’s on a solitary cell, rather than a normal cell like the first time that he was unjustly arrested. Before his death, the Luminary draws in the walls of the cell a lot of things that happened in his life, for the day that he climbed Cobblestone Tor alongside Gemma to the day that the Luminary and his friends traveled to Yggdrasil.

Next day, the Luminary is finally going to receive his death sentence. But before being sent to be killed, he receives the visit of a female prosecutor (similar to Persona 5’s Sae Niijima) which interrogates the prisoner. Both prisoner and prosecutor had a talk in the interrogation room. While the prosecutor tries to persuade him into gaining his freedom with dubious methods (read: selling his party and associates), the Luminary firmly resists her temptations of abandoning his friends. Eventually, he tells the prosecutor everything that happened in his adventure so far, until the question about Jasper’s murder. The Luminary confesses his crime, but not before telling the prosecutor about Jasper’s own crimes.

Eventually the day of execution begins. The Luminary is tied up in a wooden pole (As a bit of Mythology Gag, Baran from the Dai no Daibouken manga series also was executed in the same way.) and going to be kille by the court wizards’ Frizzes. But before the Luminary’s death sentence is complete, Erik appears and saves him, giving the Luminary the Sword of Light. The rest of the party (including Jade) then fights the Heliodorian soldiers in a fierce battle. Eventually the same scene with the party hounds King Carnelian in the castle happens. Mordegon reveals himself to the party after exiting the king’s body. Eventually Hendrik appears and then he discovers the truth. Then the same fight with Mordegon in Act 3, complete with the same purple mist which reverses healing spells.

During the fight, Hendrik takes an attack of Mordegon for the Luminary. The black knight succumbs to his injuries and die, motivating the Luminary to kill Mordegon, even though he lost half of his memories of the original timeline. The fight ends with Mordegon defeated for once and all, but not before telling the Luminary that he wasn’t the only one who “defied the flow of time”. Then King Carnelian is saved, and Hendrik is revived by Serena’s spell. All is well that ends well, albeit the Luminary ends up critically injured in the battle.

Next day, in one of the Heliodor Castle rooms, Hendrik receives a visit of the prosecutor (the same one that the Luminary met in the interrogation room), who shows him that the prisoner was telling the truth about everything that happened, but most important, about Jasper’s true nature. Hendrik is shocked by this, given that Jasper was his best friend. Meanwhile, Serena, one of the witnesses of the event, goes to heal Hendrik, even though she’s his enemy. Serena explains that she has no reason to fight him, because she is in no position to judge anyone.

In another of the Heliodor Castle rooms, the Luminary is sleeping, until he’s woken up by a maid. After a breakfast (she served his breakfast in the room), the maid tells everything that happened to the Luminary. Eventually, he goes to meet his party in the chambers. Rab then tells to the Luminary that he has to meet with King Carnelian alongside the party. Serena then shows up with Hendrik, which apologizes to the Luminary and the party the troubles that he caused. But before the meeting, the black knight tells to the party how they knew that Mordegon was in Heliodor Castle all along, and in King Carnelian’s body. Jade then tells that was part of a long plan with lots of gambits and a 1-to-10 chance to success.

The party meets King Carnelian. But this time the real one, no more possessed by Mordegon. Even though he wasn’t the only behind the Luminary’s imprisonment and the destruction of Cobblestone, Carnelian still apologizes to the party that all the things that happened and feels guilty for that. The Luminary, in a moment of maturity, tells him that he’s not the one to blame. Hendrik then shows the Luminary that the Cobblestonians weren’t all dead. Gemma then hugs Luminary and explains everything that happened to their people. Amber is also proud of her adoptive son, telling him that his (adoptive) grandfather is proud of his boy. Then Carnelian gives to the Cobblestonians his real reward: To be guests of the Luminary’s Festival.

Some hours later, the party are dressed in formal clothes. Jade is dressed like something that’s expected of a princess, while Rab is dressed like his noble self in Dundrasil. In fact, Rab gives to the Luminary a pair of prince-like clothes, reflecting that he’s also the lost prince of Dundrasil. While the Luminary was dressing up, Hendrik then shows up with his Field Marshal’s clothes and brushes the Luminary’s hair while he talks about the things that happened. Then Hendrik makes a little bun in the hero’s hair.

Then the festival starts. Everyone praises the party like no tomorrow, and during the event, The Luminary tells everyone about all the things that happened in his journey. One of the highlights of the event is when the Luminary and Jade dances a beautiful waltz together. A few hours later, Gemma is outside the castle, and then the Luminary finds her. Both have a conversation about the days that they passed together as both children and teenagers and both dance on the floors of the castle. But the good moments don’t last long, as they heard a trembling sound. The Luminary and Gemma return to the castle to receive a terrible notice about the fall of Erdwin’s Lantern. And now you know… The lantern falls, Calasmos rises again, blah blah blah, you know the rest…

Well, that’s it that I have to share with you. It's a long history but how it's better or worse that the original canon it's up to you.

  9. One time I had this dream about Sissel and Missile from Ghost Trick in the Everfree Forest (Hey, if MLP can have crossovers with Mega Man, Monster Hunter and Ace Attorney, why not another Capcom IP?) and they found a dead filly (later revealed to be named Morning Glory) and decided to save her. In doing so they met her long dead sister who joined in with an absurdly long range between objects. After I woke up I named her Thistle (to keep the name theme going)

Oh, and Morning Glory was killed by the GUN Truck. Yes, really.

  10. I've dreamt about cult of zero worshipping that one eyed white ball. But nowhere to see zero, but it was looking like some celt-ish cult that once was in germany or britain in the time of roman empire occupation. The weird nature-unfriendly tribe was leaded by Alexander Gabiyshev, the "shaman-warrior" from somewhere near mongolia. That's all. Do you want me to get in details how they were doing sacrifices to zero?

  13. Y'know, I haven't been on a train in years but most of the dreams I can remember just involve me missing the train. Maybe if I played more videogames instead of just watching dumb videos about them I'd have more dreams like these.

  14. Splatoon. Possibly because a. the entire Octo Expansion is basicaly a lucid dream, and b. me staying up at night thinking that the reason that Inner Agent 3 is unlocked after beating all other levels in the DLC is because 8 regained the skill she had before hearing the Calamari Inkantation and getting amnesia, causing the return in skill to return some combat memories, that being her fighting Agent 3 during Splatoon 1.

  15. Yo that Kirby game actually sounds really fun. I can confirm as a huge Kirby nerd, I do occasionally dream of playing new Kirby games. It’s great, but sad when you wake up in the end.
