Oi, don't look at me that way! This was when I first bought the game and I went straight to the companions missions and I thought Skyrim had an Oblivion-esque system where you need to sleep to improve stats.

The reason no one uses clairvoyance is that there is a giant arrow on the screen telling you where to go at all times. Clairvoyance would have been pretty handy in Morrowind, though.
Protip: You can mine the ore veins by equipping the pickaxe and attacking the rock; and it is faster than doing the animation.
