I think Ellum's play at the end would have to be to assassinate one of the lovers when everyone voted. Since 5up confirmed they were lovers, he probably didn't voted Ellum, and hopefully voted either the other lover or skip to tie the vote. That way Ellum could sab and kill with 3 alive. This fails if 5up voted that lover and reacts fast enough to vote Ellum after getting his vote back, but I think that was his only play.
