Episode Notes:

1. Games captured on real hardware – Space Jam, Nekketsu Oyako, Hyperzone and Kiss Psycho Circus. Castlevania Legends via the Super Gameboy on the SNES. I used the NES Classic to capture Rambo and Wrestlemania. I used the Mega SG to capture Dynamite Duke, James Bond, and Buster Douglas Boxing.

2. This episode could easily have sequels. My initial list was 25 games without breaking a sweat.

3. Hyperzone has many of the same sound effects from F-Zero.

4. Kiss Psycho Circus was a game I did not own again until recently. Found it at a local store for $10.

5. Rambo for the NES was in a Kaybee Toys bargain bin for a mere $18 when I got it. I was so excited to get home and play it.

6. Dynamite Duke was a game I bought with my own funds so I was determined to play that sucker to death. I got good at it back then. I could run through it with hardly any deaths after awhile.

7. Space Jam is best played with friends/family. It’s a much better multiplayer game. If the mini games irritate you, turn em off.

8. James Bond 007 The Duel doesn’t run correctly on an NTSC Master System. If you want a physical copy, go Game Gear.

  1. "Even today you'll find some asshole on the internet, saying bad things about the games you love." ~Sega Lord X

Sega Lord hates Battle Arena Toshinden, but I loved that game. Still enjoy your channel tho. 😆

  2. Played none of these games) however, I have some “disliked” games that I have enjoyed. Like Dark Void – i like a lot) also, Aliens CM and Duke Nukem Forever were not that bad (finished both).

  3. But most of the games in the video aren't considered bad. Buster Douglas was one of the best boxing games of its release. Castlevania legends was the best Castlevania of the original GB. Dynamite Duke was a good game that got no hate. Nekketsu Oyaku is still to this day considered as one of the best beat em ups of its generation. Wrestlemania was loved by many back when it was released on the Nes.

  4. Great perspective. Beauty (or fun) really is in the eye of the beholder. One of my favorites of all time is a game that catches a lot of hell—Castlevania 64. Love the reference to playing Rambo on the black and white television, by the way, brought back the memories!

  5. I don't take reviews seriously these days as my favourite game of all-time (Ridge Racer 7 for PS3) was given 7 out of 10 by a bunch of reviewers meaning it's average. I find that ludicrous. In the UK, we had a reviewer named Julian Rignall (who went on to work for US Gamer). He was like a superstar and his opinion was given a lot of weight. Too much, in fact. I never bought Super Castlevania IV because he complained it was too easy. Same with Turtles In Time. I have Shenmue III but haven't played it. I know it's widely regarded as a failure but I'll make up my own mind. I'll only play it if I've gone through the first two games again. A stupid, British reviewer gave Street Fighter III W Impact for Dreamcast a score of about 38 out of 100, complaining that it wasn't fit to be on the system.

  6. Project Altered Beast is a game that surprised me, open environments with backtracking, different creatures to transform into and hack'n'slash gameplay made one of the worst reviewed games- at the time- on the PS2 a favorite of mine.

  7. Love this. I had Vigilante and Rocky on the master system back in the day and loved them and still do. Apparently they weren't to everyone's taste tho in the modern age.

  8. the only bad video game is a broken video game, back in my days, i loved XARDION on snes , i thought it was the best, as for NES, i adored DOUBLE DRAGON 3 , i thought it was the best nes brawler ever…..people just have different tastes, there is no bad video games, as long as u are having fun.

  9. I always liked Bubsy. The game is difficult and you have to play cautiously, but that's exactly why I liked it so much, it's different from anything else. The game forces you to play more strategically and in a stealthy way, but you also have 9 lives to cover your mistakes. It's a nice unique experience imo and it also have some fun animations and music.

  10. It's a good point, we played the games we had, I mean if you spent all your savings on a new game then surely you were going to get as much out of it as possible. Also I think the memories associated with a game, like having a good time playing it with family and friends is much more important than whether some reviewer liked it or not.

  11. Back in the day though, it was often a choice: Play the "bad" game you got as a present that year, or play nothing lol
It's because of this that there's a few terrible games that I put more hours into as a kid than I would put minutes into today.
