Mando-Vania – What if The Mandalorian was an 8-bit videogame?

This is a project I am calling ‘Mando-Vania’ which started out life as a simple, ZX Spectrum style sprite that I drew and posted on Twitter!

Due to the response it gained I decided to try turning it into a game and, with no coding skills I opted to try out GDevelop5, starting from the ground up, as the software was completely new to me.

This is my very first attempt at developing anything, so it’s been a huge learning curve to get this far.

Will I finish it? …… Who knows?

Should I finish it? …… Well that a matter of opinion I guess!

In any case I have enjoyed making what I have so far and it’s a joy to use GDevelop5, which simplifies game making by using ‘Events’ to decide which conditions lead to certain actions, kinda like IF and THEN commands…

Even without any coding experience, I believe that anybody is capable of making a great game using this software, just so long as they apply a bit of patience and a dash of imagination.

If any of you would like to try out GDevelop5 for yourselves then here is a link to their website, where you will find the software free to download:

https://gdevelop-app.com/

Subscription packages are available for advanced features, but not required for amateur game makers and hobbiests.

Enjoy!
