Metal Gear Solid 4 – Guns of the Patriots 4K HDR 60FPS

Perhaps one of the biggest PS3 exclusives of 2008 is Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid 4 (MGS4). Hideo Kojima’s brainchild taking his first steps on the MSX2 (later ported for the NES) home computer was the first of its kind to have Stealth at the heart of the gameplay. This 8-bit version of Snake was also the most difficult of its kind. However, the Solid Snake icon has grown on the very first PlayStation.

The greatest asset of Metal Gear Solid is the extensive universe in which DARPA (the existing defense research center of the US military) is investigating the making of a mobile and flexible atomic bomb in response to rising terrorism. DARPA, inventor of ao. the internet, decides to focus its sentences on creating a nuclear two-legged tank. Metal Gear Rex was born in 2005! Ultimately, it is up to the player to temporarily destroy Rex and defuse the atomic bomb as there are also terrorists behind the most powerful weapon in the world. This group of ex-special forces that has turned into hellish terrorists calls themselves FOXHOUND. FOXHOUND’s leader, Liquid Snake, finds his tragic end thanks to the intervention of Solid Snake in an intense battle with MetalGear Rex.

In 2000, Kojima releases the first information about MGS2. The title quickly grows into the most anticipated title for the PS2 with its incredibly beautiful graphics, physics (melting ice cubes rule!) And deepened gameplay. But Kojima’s vision went beyond making an enjoyable and graphically clever game. The visionary also highlights themes that are barely featured in games. MGS2’s plot and dialogues are brimming with references and criticisms of censorship, manipulation, patricide and the flaws of our current democracy.
MGS2 “Sons of Liberty” opens on March 22, 2007. Snake must infiltrate a tanker that would contain a brand new Metal Gear. Metal Gear Ray is more agile, faster and acts like an amphibian and Ray is sweeping the floor with Rex. The antagonist of MGS2 is Revolver Ocelot, an ex-FOXHOUND member. Ocelot seemingly possessed by Liquid Snake sinks the tanker and escapes with Ray’s plans. After this, the player is introduced to an oil platform with a new main character, Raiden. What follows is a deep and intense plot where Raiden must stop Solidus from escaping with the prototype of the Metal Gear Ray. The final battle takes them both to Manhattan, where Raiden must eventually take out his genetic father Solidus. Despite the negative criticism from fans of Raiden’s character, the game was adored.

And that finally brings our chronology to Metal Gear Solid 4. We arrive in 2014, five years after the “Manhattan incident”. Solid Snake returns to the battlefield one last time. Unlike current warfare, men and weapons are provided by PMCs (private military corporations). The five largest military companies come under one big name, Outer Heaven. Liquid Ocelot, leader of Outer Heaven and recurring antagonist, has only one goal. Drenching the world in chaos and occupying the Middle East. The now graying and suicidal Solid Snake receives orders from General Roy Campbell to end this epic and take out Ocelot for good.
With a new generation of consoles also comes a new generation of gameplay. In MGS4, the stealth and alert status of the soldiers has been greatly altered. Only 2 statuses remain: normal and alert. Interaction between soldiers happens automatically in the normal state. They will patrol, talk to other soldiers and follow their routines thoroughly. The biggest addition is the “threat ring”. This ring indicates which side the soldiers are threatening Snake on. The ring starts to peak when enemies are close by, Snake is shot at and receives sound from footsteps. The red gradations of the ring indicate how much danger it is in.

Since MGS4: “Guns of the Patriots” is a new environment for Snake, he also has extra meters that determine his skills in open battle. You not only have a life meter, but also a stress and psychometer. When that first peaks, Snake endures more pain and shoots more accurately. All the data that fills and checks this meter is based on information from gunfights and experiences of real soldiers. But: what goes up must come down! When the adrenaline wears off, Snake and the accompanying psychemeter crashes. With the psychemeter at its lowest point, you shoot inaccurately and limit its freedom of movement. At such times, you need to calm Snake through magazin

  1. I hate playing this on PlayStation Now. The game stops streaming if you don’t push a button after so long and you lose progress so when I’m watching these hour long cutscenes I gotta remember to move the controller around a little bit so I don’t get kicked out of the game. I wish we could just get a collection to play. But I doubt we ever will with the Konami/Kojima feud…
