I agree with a lot of what you said, but idk if you remember, old Morde had one of the strongest potential in build paths of any champ. Hybrid builds were insane, because AP wise he only ever needed Rylai's, Liandry's and maybe Deathcap. He could easily build Sterak's and Death's Dance (especially after they changed DD) and if you went Aery you were pretty much unkillable. That's not even mentioning the fact that old Morde is infinitely more skill expressive than the rework. Knowing all the effects of the different ghosts, the flash-3rd q-e combo could destroy ADCs mid to late game. Playing him bot felt amazing as he had so much synergy with Alistar, Leona, Nautilus and other tanky CC supports. He could easily solo lanes too and his teamfighting is amazing. Barely any of this is present in the newest rework.
I was an Morde main for a while before his rework , he have his problems and countless bugs but I loved him , I'm glad to see him gotten more badass but sad to see he have lost his old charm
First iteration Morde when I started playing I enjoyed a lot. Shame they butchered him and made him and adc ugh, and then left him there to rot until he was eventually removed
Rylay Liandry with his old passive was such a slow and invetiable death xD, and it so COOL having ghosts and controlling them with alt
I didn't play Lol before mordekaiser got reworked , and I like the new one more , looking back at the old one , the new one is more practical , useable , is a strong toplaner , that can't be kited if he hits his E constantly , he atleast needs a little skill to hit his skillshots and he has to know who to ult to win the teamfight , if he ults the support away , the teamfight is done for.
controlling drake thankks to old morde ult was the greatest thing ever and made him main him! since the rework i didn´t touch him to not destroy the old magic. thx for the great time anyway riot 🙂
Ver 1 morde was one of my favorite champions, remember back in s1 being able to 1v4 (assuming they were not able to kite me forever)
I think they reworked Morde and Aatrox because of Viego and Akshan ults. They were unique and now clones of Thresh and Riven 🙁
Cries in ap0
I feel like Mordekaiser's rework was for the better. His old kit was cool, but honestly the Lore of the new Mordekaiser is what sets him apart. I think out of all of League's champions, Mordekaiser's lore is by far my favorite. Dude literally took over Runeterra . Died once and went to a realm with his spirit and REFUSED to fade, learned the language of the dead, tricked some sorcerers. Came back and took over Runeterra AGAIN, amassing secrets and ancient magics before being betrayed by the black rose that he fucking LET happen, died and now literally builds an Empire in that realm out of the souls he's captured there, coming back with the black mist to claim more
Fucking Legend
as a pre rework morde main i really do miss the old morde. but all things considered the rework is pretty successful. old morde was fun, but new morde is an improvement i think. i really miss the old w and r, but this was a good rework
"isolating a key target to a juggernaut is what called no counter play"
Gangplank mid:" An orange a day keep a moving armour away"
I've never played old morde, so I suppose I'm bias towards the new morde, but in my opinion, new morde has a very similar indentity uniqueness to old morde. Old morde was a controller of death, and the raised ghost was a super cool mechanic. New morde is a hulking mass of iron who visually and audibly SCREAMS "I'm a juggernaut who can't be stopped". Old morde visibly doesn't look anywhere near as juggernauty as new morde, which is why i think they have the same amount of identity, its just a different identity.
Mordekaiser's rework is MUCH WORSE than Aatrox's. Sure, both lost their identity, but at least the latter is very fun to play.
nah, new morde is better, yeah, we will miss the ghost, but if thats the only trade-off for a much much cooler champion, ill take it
Am I the only person who noticed that the abilities where 1234 and summes where E and R
The old Mordekaiser had something else going for him: A sense of humor.
New Morde is a genaric deep voiced bad guy. If I wanted to see a cheap Sauron inmitation I'd pick up an 80's fantasy book.
The old Morde on the other hand, he had personality. I feel we have too many edgy dark characters in the game. The thing I loved most about the old Mordekaiser was that he seemed to be having fun while being evil.
At that, all the metal referances were pure gold.
I really wish I could play old morde again. Really sucks and there isn't really any other character in any game like him. I want old mord back
teemo needs a rework
I miss old morde… he was so unique and now he’s just super bland. His only goal now is to hit q.
They’re too far away? E->Q
They are in a team fight? R->Q
You are taking a lot of damage? W->Q
ap0 flashbacks?
The major thing I miss from old Morde is those spell names. 😭
I am sad that Riot abandoned their old philosophy of trying to make all sorts of champions specific to a lane, but I cannot blame riot entirely for that.
The thing is that Old Morde doesn't really needed CC because he had other useful tools. Built In Lifesteal after recasting your W, tons of DMG in Q, a poke in E and a Curse Ult that just melted your enemies away. His CC problem could easily be fixed if you took Exhaust on him and bought Rylai. You simply Ulted the target when you already had Rylai, put exhaust on him, put up your W (Especially if you had minions near you and the target) and just Q him/her to death. About tankiness he was pretty tanky with the right itemization and because of his passive. You dealt DMG in teamfights and you stayed alive while dealing a shitton of dmg. And of course the ghost doesn't really need any words, it was tons of fun, and that is the main problem of the new Mord: The FUN factor is missing just like in Aatrox's case. The problem with some of Riot's design teams is that they simply don't care about or respect the veteran community that mained the champion they are reworking. They just coming up with new ideas while "trying" to preserve the champion's identity, but in the end they fail big time since they don't spend enough time with the champion they are working on to understand it completelly. If I remember correctly the old Mord community voted for the ultimate to stay and of course the pizza feet too, but as we all see Riot just simply took them away because THEY tought it's either not looking good or just simply cannot work out. I seriously don't understand why they are handling the older communities so poorly, but I think every player have the same value and every playerbase deserves the same attention, not just the Yasuo, Lux, Ezreal, Tresh, etc champion mains.
ive been playing octopath again recently, my body instantly reacted to this soundtrack LOL
you and i have common tastes in games my friend. even your yugioh references hit home with me lol
TL;DR: I miss old Mord and don’t play new Mord.
I picked up Mord when a year before they reworked him. At first he was quite hard to play and understand, but after many games with him I came to love him. His kit was unique, he had the ability to control a dragon, and he had an ABSURD amount of healing with the W. I really had come to love the old Mord, and was really hyped to see how his rework would make him better. And then when the rework video came out I felt like I had been betrayed. All the parts that made him fun were gone (albeit Brazil was a cool add) and when I picked him up the day of the rework, it just didn’t feel the same. So now I don’t really play him even though he is one of my highest mastery champions, as I lost what I enjoyed most from the champion. Is he good now, yes as proven by the video it fixed his problems, but is he fun anymore, not really to me. I miss being able to use my R and watch them melt away, press W at 1% HP and heal to 50%, and the bloody Q damage on the third hit was SOOO massive.
I honestly perfer new Morde. I am a bit biased on champs that got a rework, i will admit this. But with Morde, this ultimate is better in a few ways because it's not just the 1v1 aspect, but it's also the fact that he can remove someone like the ADC from a Team Fight, and that helps the team alot, plus when he kills someone in his ult, he gets their stats until they respawn and that is really cool. His Q can be a bit redic, especially since you can hit someone under turret and still be a safe distance away, especially if you E them first. plus, he just looks SOOOOOOO cool with his rework. so yeah, old morde will be missed, but new morde is really cool.
I agree with you they should have keep his old Passive, W, and Ult his ult is basically useless in mid to late game because at this point the enemy adc had a QSS or the enemy mid has a stopwatch/zhonya and the 10% stat steal doesn't benefit him that much because even if you win a 1v1 on top there's no enemy to use that 10% stats or if you get ganked by the enemy jungle you are dead either way or your lucky enough to have a full bar of your W. I main him once on mid and top it was fun pressing only one button to kill an enemy when you have liandry's torment and ignite up and it's fun playing the new mord but his ult is so easy to counter.
Please talk about Karma! Legacy Karma was my absolute favorite champ and I miss her so much! T_T
She was hard to use because she required your team to understand how she worked for her to do well. Without her team moving in the right way, she'd end up being less useful. But her capacity to bait a ton of damage, only to flip it back on them as massive offense + massive healing and shielding were so satisfying.
