if npcs craft it adds points to technology, if you craft you get points towards your talents and it goes to technology, thats the difference.
wooohooo big stupid smile on my face with the addressing of quests!!!!!! It is perfectly fine if you find yourself stumbling over reading out loud. Lots of people, including very erudite and charismatic speakers do the same. No need to get down on yourself. So happy you are addressing the issue though and have found a way to get through it.
On my game, I placed the mine a house and a Resource Storage all right by the mine.

Where you are heading at 21:30 , by the river. That's where I set my base. Pretty decent location. Fairly close proximity to Gostovia, but at the same time, pretty close to a caves and the other towns that pop a quest every so often. It also has a good amount of flat terrain and a lot of wood supplies.

Survival is for using the hunting lodge for gathering berries and mushrooms and the hunting skill is for actual hunting.
A low hunting high survival will not be any good for hunting
A low survival high Hunting will not be any good for gathering
that's why the hunting lodge has two stats but it's not either or for hunting they are specific to what job you want them to do in the hunting lodge.
Bear in mind I've never played this I don't have it and this is just my understanding from watching the game being played and my experience in other somewhat similar games so please by all means fact check this and verify it.
I wonder if you get enough people couldn't you assign someone to just make firewood and never need to worry about it again? right now you have them getting sticks logs and firewood but if you put one of them to do nothing but firewood (if this is possible) would they make more firewood than they would if they had multiple things to produce?
I have the same issue with reading out loud. I can read to myself just fine but reading it out loud is pretty rough for me. I was in a special ed class back in school for that very reason and even my special ed teacher called me stupid because I should be able to read at that level but the problem was I could read to myself just fine just never out loud. because of my teacher calling me stupid I dropped out because I don't think teachers should do that and it doesn't help the students at all especially if they actually had some condition. my experience I just didn't read out loud well but to myself just fine.
I'm the same way when it comes to reading out loud. I would always read ahead a paragraph if my class was doing that popcorn read bullshit lol
