I think it's a good idea to put hardware in the dock. They need to do something to keep up with next gen, but also keep the portability.
I think the number of people who purchase multiple docks just to move around their home is so slim. This wouldn't justify holding back dock hardware just for these few people
This rumor sounds to me like a confirmation of Nintendo may be doing something very Nintendo. Could be a home console with tablet that has interactivity to console similar to Wii u with updated slim lightweight design. This would support the leaks better battery life since no processors in tablet. Also would support leak in that the dock has the 4k chip inside of it. Wouldn't split the consumer base since it's a more home centric design. Could even have ar mixed reality element to it.
