Jerry deserved to survive, think about it. Throughout the show he is constantly mocked and treated as a scum of a man. But down to his core he's a man with good principles, "Fashioned values" if you will. All his slip ups during the show such as the divorce are complete logical due to the circumstances. Maybe this corruption is the chance he needs to prove what he can really do.
