My Elder Scrolls 6: Perks [ep2]

The second episode of a long series on my ideal Elder Scrolls VI. This second episode goes over a general overview of how I would revamp the perk system.

  1. Cross Perks are a good idea, but there could be an issue where players are restricted by which c-perks they have access to early on. Giving each race, birth sign (if you're using that), and/or class (if you're using that) access to a small number of c-perks for the early game would be a good way to encourage replays, because while Bretons and Altmer are both magically focused races Bretons could have the Battle Mage c-perk earlier and easier – assuming they meet the skill requirements. Maybe even knowledge of a single hard to get c-perk. Races generally need more differentiation then what they've had throughout most of the series.
I do like how this idea further fleshes out the in-world economy, something I believe needs more focus in future Elder Scrolls games – even if in a basic form.
The addition of more unique boss fights who fight with these c-perks sounds far more interesting and memorable than a generic bandit leader, dragon, drauger, ect.
Building one's own constellation is also great contextualization for the system, although the Venn diagram style might look strange in the UI with the constellation.
