The Vandal vs. Phantom discussion has been an ongoing topic for the community, and we had thought we solved it since the Phantom seems to be better in every way. But now that new data has shown the contrary, maybe it’s time to take a look at the Valorant meta and figure out why the Vandal is more popular as a gun.

incase you have not noticed, people have been using the vandal. This is nothing new at all.
Why they didn't switch to guradian
Phantom lacks the one tap headshot potential , which is a big downside to me
I only tap and burst so i use the vandal.
The Vandal was 1000% stealth buffed a few patches back, I know its not just me that has been hitting headshots while barrel stuffing Phantom style or when just flat out missing the head which made the Vandal way to consistent. Having played a lot since 4.07 I think thats either been fixed or stealth nerfed back.
ive been a vandal main for ages for one reason. Vandal go thunk when shoot.
for me it doesnt matter it depends on my days
In my opinion, i think it depends on the day and map. For example, any maps except icebox, breeze and fracture is a phantom map. But if i am confident in my aim that day i’ll use phantom. If not, i will switch to phantom.
Imma just use Phantom regularly bcs it's easier in game until I got that Phantom 140 moment. Then I switch to Vandal for the rest of the game.
Phantom is easier to use and more forgiving, yes. If you at least hit a headshot or spray enough bullet to the body. Most of the time it could be one bullet 140 HS, or 4 hit body -140 dmg too at some medium range. That's why Vandal on the other hand, despite not being quite consistent as the Phantom in terms of accuracy and harder to utilize, it's more consistent on damage output. It's okay if you're still a body shot barry, at least Vandal could somewhat helps with that.
i realised i need to switch to phantom
When i first started playing, around when Yoru came out, I used the phantom but switched to the more deadly vandal. But recently, I am trying phantom again.
guardian is better. just one shot if you have a good aim
Vandal if my aim is crispy, phantom when i play like shit
vandal just have better skins
for me, I feel like vandal is better. I usually put it like this. "Phantom is statistically better, but vandal feels better". However, I've been a vandal one trick for a long time now and I see myself spraying too much with it. But, every time I spray with the phantom, I just can't get the same amount of recoil control and headshots as the vandal. instead of the phantom, I find myself using the vandal, guardian, bulldog, marshal, and sheriff more than a phantom. However, I used to switch between the two.
for me personally, i just hop into an unrated or smth and see wut i feel more comfortable playing that day. I dont rlly have a favorite but i do feel just slightly more comfortable with the phantom. So for me, it rlly depends on wut i feel is right for me when im warming up
Lol for me it depends what day it is sometimes I love the phantom and sometimes I love the vandal
I come from cs go and the phantom is what made me able to play this game. My crouch spray muscle memory just applies better to the phantom
everyone else in the valorant community: vandal or phantom?
me: why dont we use both?
i mean i just choose what to use in every round, so like if i am feeling to to play phantom i play phantom, if i feel
i want to play vandal, i play vandal, any guns dont matter to me because ik how to use both guns, i use to only
main phantom then i was like why dont we use both guns and boom i mastered the phantom AND the vandal a little bit,
because the vandal is bit stuffer
Guardian
Its because of the skins
I always use vandal sometimes phantom but i crouchspray with phantom qnd burts/strafe with vandal, vandal just feels more natural
I'm from CS:GO before I switch to Valorant and even then I prefer M4A1-S instead of AK-47, so same applies to Phantom vs Vandal. But there are days that I use AK-47 in CS:GO when I'm really feeling my headshots, so same thing also applies in Valorant's Vandal when I'm really feeling my headshots but I switch to Phantom when I need to be more consistent with my shots not just headshots. It all boils down to how my game feels at the moment, if I'm feeling my headshots or I need to be more consistent.
But I wanna use my skin 🙁
vandal is just better its 1 tap this is the most thing needed for esport players
Vandal is op
i have only ever used a vandal tbh so ya vandal for me plz
honestly it depends on what you are going for. If you want to like kill someone from a far, vandal would be better obviously and if you want to like rush in and being close to the enemy, the phantom is your best friend. Or if you want to get some sick one taps from across the map or anywhere on the map, pick vandal.
I like Vandal
"Don't shift only counter strafe" but in legit all the clips in this video you're shifting when spraying idk
Well, I try not to use phantom at all. Even if a skin phantam and a normal vandal is lying on the ground, i will ali pick vandal
a rifle that can 1 tap from any range is absolutely better than one that cant. its not a debate that the vandal is better
I used the phantom mostly for a majority. But in the past few months, that 1 tap ability cannot be compared. Funny that my shift to vandal usage happened around the same time the pros started shifting too. I think during DMs I kept getting gunned down by vandals.
Me as a Guardian enjoyer: 😀
Between the two in the vid…Vandal.
But at my rank (S1) I can trot out a Bulldog and fight midrange fairly well. Esp good when my funds are shite.
I love both weapon
whole valorant community agreed that phantom is always better? you live on earth 2.0 or what?
Vandal sounds better too.
I play csgo, I pick ak
Bruh i was using vandal since i started playing idk why 😂
Basically phantom is spray and pray and vandal requires skill and its hard to hit shots while spraying with the vandal
Phantom buff or Vandal nerf is what we need. Stinger recoil rework also.
we all know guns are picked for skins
My aim gotten worse from using phantom
I switch to what ever free skin on the ground lol 😂. Jokes aside, I only feel so good about phantom is when playing yoru. The no trace with yoru’s insane kit makes him a literal phantom. But most of the time, vandal is just better cuz you have such low time to kill especially when baiting teammates
I just prefer phantom because it allows me to play more aggressively. Having a faster recovery time just benefits my personal play style. Plus I just prefer my phantom skins over my vandal skins, although I did just pick up the Forsaken Vandal the other day, so I've been playing more vandal recently for that reason.
I would like to say, one of the perceived advantages of the phantom was its ability to spray through smokes without giving away your positioning. However, I think this is not as relevant on the pro scene anymore because pro teams have largely gravitated to utility heavy site takes. So they drop smokes, storm on to the site and then just tuck themselves into safe positions. I don't know for sure because I haven't seen the kills through smokes stats recently (I'd be curious to know where he got his gun stats from if anyone knows) but I'd wager a guess that it became less prevalent as the controller heavy meta gave way to the current initiator heavy meta.
Also wall banging someone with the vandal is just way easier. I think it took people a pretty long time to realize that Vandals can actually punish people jump peaking pretty easily by tagging a a few bullets on the as they fall back behind cover. Having that higher damage makes a big difference in these circumstances and pro players are becoming really adept at predicting when and where players are likely to jump peek for info.
shorty wasnt shown but my guess was 97% lol
