Insomniac is hiring for 19 new open positions and has hired Walt Williams as a writer for an upcoming project. This could mean Insomniac games has putting together a third team to work on a game and this game I speculate to be Resistance 4 or a reboot. Don't think this is what they're working on but I would a miles morales sized Venom game after Spiderman 2. This that would be great to flesh out the world more and it would be a lot of fun playing as venom.
Unpopular opinion: I think this 3rd team in Insomniac is working on a FPS for the PSVR2, but could possibly also be played on just the PS5 (similar to RE7). Prior to being bought by Sony, Insomniac had made 4 VR games (3 of which were VERY well received). They obviously have an interest in the format and Sony needs to put some 1st party support behind the PSVR2 if they want it to succeed. Their other studios that supported the first VR is on shaky ground (Japan Studio was majorly downsized & London may be ditching VR games). Having a 'AAA' game from Insomniac could be just what the PSVR2 needs. Whether or not it's a Resistance game is debatable.
I agree about Sony needing an FPS IP, and I’m tired of being told I’m wrong for saying that by PlayStation fanboys. I love PlayStation, it’s my favorite gaming platform because it has the best 3rd person action-adventure and open world games (which are my favorite game genres) but just because they dominate that wheelhouse of game creation, that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t even attempt to make games that aren’t their particular strengths. Killzone had a lot going for it (gameplay/weapon variety/lore/graphics/art design etc.) it just didn’t receive the attention it deserved from Sony. I want to see Sony try their hand at every game genre like they did during the 7th generation with the PS3.

PS really do need that FPS of their own. A new Resistance would be welcome. I can see the majority of the team work on SM2 after Ratchet whilst some work on something new(apart from that) until release then move them onto that new title/IP/Release.
