Nice, WIDE Buck Tagged, But An Antler Fell Off – Fight Injury? (596)

Prostaffer LIndsey Martin recently tagged a wide Arkansas buck. Her hunt was not what we would call normal and it had a very unique ending! When the buck hit the ground one of his antlers fell off. Most likely he was injured when fighting causing an infection at the base of his antler and a possible brain abscess.

Lindsey and Heath have worked hard to improve the habitat and hunting programs on their family farm for better deer hunting. Watch to see Lindsey’s 2020 deer hunts with some great buck encounters!
The experiences from this hunt can be very useful for future deer hunts: 1) When or will deer react to a new hunting blind in the field? How many days should you wait before hunting a new blind? 2) How to use buck decoys to attract deer. 3) Why hunters should not shoot through brush or grass – bullets can be deflected to cause an injury or a miss. 4) What causes a buck’s antlers to fall off after a fight? 5) How to tell if deer meat is good if the deer is injured or infected.
