What’s up guys and gals, I’m Kage848. I love to make videos for Youtube, mostly early access survival games like 7 Days to Die, Empyrion, Raft, Mist Survival, The Forest, and more! I also dabble in City Builders and strategy games like Civilization 5, Civilization 6, Dawn of Man, Stonehearth, Factorio and Rim World. I do at least two videos everyday of mainly tutorials, let’s plays and general gameplay footage. Thanks for watching my videos.

This Early Access game is not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development.

  1. Just roll with the family stuff. Basically when you enlist someone, they'll decide who to move in with. It's probably based on factors we can't see, which is cool with me. You actually don't need that many workers anyway, 5 or so can cover all your needs. I feel like its a cool mechanic, I was annoyed with it at first, but it's grown on me. The game isn't "realistic" but I like the limitations it puts on you, in real life a lord would not be arraigning marriages (outside their own family). Kids are going to happen.

  2. why not have kids?, your houses can only hold 2 adults and 2 kids anyway, the last spaces are for the kids only! so each house can only hold 2 workers, and the kids grow up and will become workers and need their own houses..

  3. Kage, you're being WAAAAY too short-sighted about kids in this game. You can't work them right now, it's true. But you also have a building limit, and there are only so many houses you can build. Building more houses is cutting into your production buildings, so you need to maximize your worker homes. Those kids eventually grow up and become workers, and they already have a place to live… with their parents! You can only have two workers per house… Mom and Dad… until those kids grow up and become workers themselves. Then you have four workers per house. You can't fill those empty slots with other workers, because the game reserves those spots for worker families… so kicking out the families just because they have a kid is ruining your future workforce. Have patience… you are creating a legacy and a dynasty, not a factory line.

  4. you're building a dynasty, with a village, the village most grow, or else you're giving your child a village with no people in the future, they die of old age. and it is a game, early acces, take it easy with the population, maybe they are changing that children under (12)?? something? not count as population? But you're building a Dynasty, so …..:)

  5. 7:10 I like that name "Zygfryd", probably East-European (the developpers are Polish). In German it's "Siegfried", a traditional name in Germany. I don't know if the name exists in English too.

In my opinion – I am not a language expert, but quite good in languages – those names used in the game work quite well for a medieval Central-Europe. I recently read an Old-English poem of the 14th century and noticed, that the English of that time was quite close to the Middle-High-German of the same time. You'll notice even more the close connections between English and German, both Germanic languages. Ok, English has as well Viking, Gaelic and Norman (French) parts, but the majority of the words are of Germanic origin.

  6. @Kage848 – Regarding the settlement workforce:

I just realized this in the beginning of the episode: You were talking about how you were okay with yourself and your wife having a kid, but not your workers. And it got me thinking about your heir.. If you constantly kick out people trying to start families, who will be left to work for your kid when you grow old and die? All of your workers are around your age, give or take a few years, so your son will have to recruit new workers on his own and level them from the beginning just like his dad.

As you've said several times so far in your playthrough: this game is surprisingly deep, and from what I have seen it will pay off really well in the long run to keep the families around. Not only does the married couples seem a lot happier than the single workers, but in the long run they will provide your settlement – and therefore your heir – with young workers that are already tied to the place. They will have their whole lives in front of them, which is ideal for finetuning their skills in certain areas. I think that is a big part of what the blessings of a rich heritage is all about in a setting like this.

(Also, from an immersive point of view: Wouldn't it be terribly boring for your heir to grow up as the only child in the settlement? And thouroughly heartless to kick out the people who seems the most dedicated to the growth of your dynasti? If they're comfortable enough to settle down and have children, you can be dead certain that they are aiming to bring the place as far along as possible.)

  7. If I somehow manage to get this game I might have to be a little sexist when it comes to recruiting important workers to make sure they never stop working.
at first all men except my own family that way no one ever stops working for taking care of a child and once I have all the important jobs set up then I could start bringing in more women for families who will work with their husbands so when the women is with child and not doing anything the man is still doing work.

  8. The game isn't Plantation Dynasty. They are not your slaves. Success in this game isn't about coin, but dynasties. Yours and theirs. Stop being a dick to those villagers. If your not complaining about the hours they work, its complaining about their personal life. Heck, you just asked the devs to let you change the names of npc villager children ..

  9. You should leave the things where the NPCs put them because these are the places they take them from shuffleing it around too much could break your NPCs and they don't work properly.

  10. Could there be a reason for having your villagers have kids though? Like do the children have skills derived from their parents skills? If so then children may be a way to get villagers with higher skill than those you could recruit from outside the villagers.

  11. I noticed a bug with field workers, when they're done with one field sometimes they just stand there and do nothing, even when there is other work to do. Right now I have to toggle them on and off duty a lot. Sometimes too when you have at least two field workers, the third just stands there. No always though, so I'm not sure what is up with the AI.

  12. I just had this same issue. You need an empty house, you click on the house in the management menu and assign the person you want to move!
This nearly drove me to rage quit last week, there isn’t enough detailed info atm on how to do these essential things!

  13. Population is only limited by housing and kids will live with their parents so you can get 4/4 in a house instead of 2, plus they're only mothers for 2 years. It's really the best way to grow your population, it just takes too long for them to grow up and start working.
