  1. Honestly I don't have any problems with Aloy as she was depicted in the SONY presentation. I am already invested in her as one of the best characters out of last Gen and I want to see/experience more of her exploits. I am not sure what kind of person is angry she doesn't look like an instagram "influencer", like what the actual F?? o_O

  2. Thanks for the notes about accessibility. I recently found out I have cataracts (that will eventually be removed) but games that have a small font or nonadjustable HUD are really challenging for me currently. I've had to uninstall games because I couldn't read the font.

  3. My opinion is that I want to play a good looking character female or male, sure if the game is good I won't care but when you can customize/choose character models I always go for good looking people.

  4. About 13:00, a contract saying that people cannot say what they don't believe in doesn't avoid the actual behavior. It only makes people a little more confortable about it. If Microsoft wants to pay someone to say that they use Xbox more frequently than the PS5, they will. And if someone is willing to take the money and force himself use Xbox, even if it's worst, it'll happen, and maybe it's gonna be completely untrackable.

I'm not saying that Microsoft does that, I'm saying that contracts sometimes makes us feel confortable about issues they don't actually resolve. Of course, prohibiting undisclosed advertising is a better solution, but it's still falible, and that's what makes people come up with those conspiracy theories.

I utterly respect people who stick to ethics. But, in real life, we simply can't know for sure who does that and who doesn't. And I believe conspiracy theories to be a kinda reasonable consequece to that.

  5. I think you probably said it best here with "its fine to have sexy female characters and its fine to have sexy male characters" If more games would allow me to be aggressively bi and I can have my male characters dressed up in the skimpy as heck gear like the women are I'd be less salty. LOL Sexy also ranges differently for people, Aloys design for me is already super fucking hot but that…fan rendering looks ugly, i don't like girls from korean/other asian mmos in terms of looks. Games are finally allowing for varied character design, let people design varied characters and stop needing to focus on hotness. I'm a character designer dammit i don't wanna make the generic ultra hottie number 6 I wanna see what I can push in terms of character variance!

  6. As a guy with only one working arm I fully agree. We don’t want easy games we want games that are hard but can be beaten with certain button swapping. Ben Heckendorn makes custom controllers if anyone needs help.

  7. When it comes to Horizon, Aloy was never suppose to be a sexualized character, something the developers where very open about during development of Zero Dawn, so the idea that the made her less sexy for the sequel is reticules.

  8. I'd like to comment on her 'making video game women less sexy' question response.

I feel like it's less about being realistic and more about self-reflection. Games in general avoid realism at any cost, even games that tout 'hyper-realism' like Escape From Tarkov. I won't go too deep into it, but if EFT made the game truly realistic, it would not be fun. None of the helmets would stop even the worst rifle cartridges, a shot to the arm would leave you incapable of using your weapon, and a shot to the chest would lead to near instant death or incapacitation.

My thought about self-reflection is that people aren't necessarily looking for realism in a character, they're looking for someone who looks more like them (beautiful people exist, a beautiful character is still 'realistic'). It makes them feel more accepted. I know that before I lost weight whenever I saw a fat guy on TV or in games it made me feel better about myself.

Which is exactly to your point about character personality. If the fat guy on TV's whole character was "look at how many donuts I can scarf down my gullet" I would not feel so positively toward them. The point you made wasn't one that I would have thought about right away given this question but it resonates with me.

  9. I agree about pre-orders in general, but if it’s from a developer who I trust, I’ll at least think about it. And when it comes to my two favorite games: I’ve already pre-ordered Life Is Strange: True Colors* and I will hammer that pre-order buy button (Jacksepticeye voice: Like a boss!) for Horizon Forbidden West the minute it becomes available.

*Yes, it’s not from the original developer, but Before the Storm was good and it’s second episode my favorite of the entire series.

  10. I’m not one to really watch much in the way of gaming content but holy hell you have caught my attention. You are damn good at what ya do and entertaining while doing it. Dammit I might actually focus on games again haha, I thought I had escaped.

  11. Aloy looks super ugly to me… but that’s never been relevant to how good the game is… it’s a very good game with an interesting realized world

But yeah the main character is an ugly chick… 😅
