Outriders is a new third-person action RPG from People Can Fly and Square Enix. A few days ago they released a free demo so this is my review of the Outriders Beta on PC.

  1. I really like how your character is fully voiced in cutscenes which I always found lacking in games like Borderlands where your character talks in combat but is completely silent in cutscenes despite having a set personality.

  2. It has been a long time since I saw a demo where people kept playing for hours and hours after finishing it, that's a very good sign.

And all classes can face enemies head on with the exception of the Technomancer, the cover is mostly for your enemies and only to take cover while reloading or to allow the auto-healing to heal you a bit, Trickster, Pyromancer and Devastator can all fight groups of enemies face-to-face.

And the campaign is 30 hours then you get 15 expeditions (kinds like raids) which are all original content with pure gameplay and little story, and no recycled content.

  3. Glad u had fun man. For me it was a bit of a letdown. I play Diablo and have been playing since Diablo 2. And I have a very high bar set for loot based progression games. This just doesn’t do it for me. Hopefully is succeeds and finds a decent fan base to keep it going!

  4. I found the combat encounters to be extremely repetitive. Thought the demo ok overall but not sure I will actually buy it. Played as a Pyromancer 🔥

  5. Went into the game with low expectations and left not being able to put the game down. If you need to hide behind cover you aren't using your builds and gear properly . I play solo and WT 5 on all characters and never use cover. Outriders doesn't add anything new to the genre but what it does is bring a lot of fun to the genre. Also don't go into the game trying to compare it to other looter shooters in the market like Destiny, The Division or Anthem

  6. I thought everyone said this was a big open world game. What I played was a painfully linear “start here, end here” experience. You always know where the enemies will be because there’s cover areas placed around. It all just felt MEH 🤷🏾‍♂️ …… my friends have been replaying the same mission for like 80 hours now. I ran through the demo twice and got bored. Enemies felt kinda brain dead bullet sponges. Feels like a game you could use as back up when you get bored of your other games or something.
