  1. Same issues. I just took the deaths until I got strong enough not to need cover. Agree with your vid 1000% on the cover. My biggest issue was not being able to creep around a corner of cover without having to get out of cover first.

  2. Any time I go into cover is because I messed up my combos. When I do use it, its clunky so I decided that instead of using the cover system I just use the terrain as line of sight blocks without activating cover if I can help it. This looks like using walls and pillars without really stopping my movement. What I have found with the Pyromancer is that I am more likely to survive with a melee rush at low health than ducking into cover.

  3. I had some very odd problems during the tutorial part of the game with cover, but after that I didn't have as many. However I learned after fighting the side boss that flings a fire tornado at you that the cover system is purely optional and not something to fully rely on. That said, I'm glad they're working on it. Really was buggy.

  4. I think the cover system needs some work.
I’ve been trying to play with it after I kill the vanguard captain. I like the predictive cover system it activates from a good distance. I would like to round cover better, fire from cover better and use my melee and abilities from cover. I know they say cover’s for cowards but I think better cover mechanics makes the game more realistic and can make play more variable.

  5. ME3's cover system is one of the best I've played and still feels among the best. If PCF can get the cover system for Outriders closer to ME3, I think it would improve things well enough.

  6. I haven’t used cover to cover system much. My only problem is getting kicked it blue screen sometimes. Other then that I’ve been playing the demo since last Thursday and I’m enjoying it allot. Thank you for the coverage on Outriders.

  7. I haven't played the demo at all yet because I'm not a fan of 3rd person cover based shooters. What I'm trying to wrap my head around is, whether this game is in fact a cover based shooter or not. If it is, then why do I see so many people talking about how they don't have to use cover? If it isn't, then why do they have cover based mechanics at all?

  8. The cover system isn't perfect but it's good enough IMO considering the game isn't really a cover-shooter. If they can iron out the little kinks though, I'm all for it.

  9. I find cover to be extremely important in the early game, and it's always challenging to use since enemies have a lot of granades to flush you out constantly. They can hit you from just about anywhere on the map and are constantly working to flank your position, so cover is rarely useful for any extended period of time unlike other games – like Gears. Hopefully they'll fix these mechanics all the same, cover can be a life saver in a lot of different situations and it is tiring to give the enemies so many free hits when it's not working as expected. The game uses plenty of other systems to keep you moving, even guys on the farthest walls can almost always find an angle to plink you even in cover, and it's not until after you get some better gear with faster recharge times on your powers that it becomes far less of an issue… For a while though, cover is extremely important and also plays a decent roll in making you feel good about your character and abilities – nothing like moving cover to cover taking out enemies, using powers, and controlling your space. Interestingly enough though, I've found mulitple instances where the game throws that extra couple of guys that will almost always out last a particular timed effect or get themselves out of the blast radius so powers or not, I'm always in the fight and cover is your best friend when you're waiting on a health boost or recharge. Not a fan of the early trickster for this very reason, you have to use a lot of strategy to stay alive and I generally get cut down if I wind up in a situation where all my powers are on a recharge, cover is my only option there and even then it's a pretty small success rate.

  10. I think the way will use cover will change and adjust as we go through the game and will depend on the world tiers and difficulty and depending on the encounter.

The demo is still only a small slice of the game and I am looking forward how the experience evolves. 🙂

  11. They haven’t fixed the Lost Connectivity Issues that plague me when trying to team up with a random player…almost every time it happens and I’m not buying the game unless they fix this problem…just being honest!

  12. I usually use cover on my pyro, and it's usually for that moment when you blow out the lines with your abilites and ammo clip right before more enemies show up. Then it's typically good to find cover for reload or ability cooldown. Personally, I think it's better practice to not dying first, and think of speed running second. After all, you will lose world tier experience if you keep dying.

  13. the cover system is more or less the same as the division///only draw back here is that the outriders system is kind of buggy about going to cover…all the other cover to cover and moving around covers works well..i had no issues there being very familiar with the division 1 and 2…the problem is the latency in which your character actually goes into the animation and what i mean is some times you will snap right into cover other times it will hesitate forcing you to make a second press of the button to get your character to go into the animation..just a bit of a bug and easily fixed..i am sure they will have that hemmed up buy the launch…cover for sure has its place in the game but unlike divison games where you can stay in cover for extended periods of time..i would not recommend that in outriders because the adaptive AI of the enemies is quite good in outriders and they will immediately move to flank and reposition on you as soon as you go into cover, so staying in cover for extended periods is not necessarily a great idea…glad they recognize where they need to make some teaks and 2 thumbs up for there transparency on this issue and what they plan to do to resolve some of the issues….

  14. this game isn't about cover u dont heal from cover u heal from getting in there and killing them and healing from either stuff that die close to u or hitting with skills then kill or just doing dmg the cover system to me is fine for how they want the game to play where u get in there face and die

  15. Predictive cover needs to go away completely. I don't really use the cover system except for accidentally. Since cover was space bar, double space bar is how I dodge and salvaging loot on the ground was also space bar. I ended up just changing the cover button to a mouse button I can't reach easily , so I stop accidentally going into cover. If I need to use cover I just stand behind something . I don't use the system.

  16. I really like this dev team super responsive to the issues i will be pre ordering cover is going to be key once you get to the real end game and realize you cant go arnold swartzernagger commando killing everything with no cover you will get shredded

  17. Another issue they must pay attention and solve out is “Dissembling” item with holding “X” button in PS4/5. After destroying item, character keeps trying to take cover and this is sooooo annoying!

  18. as a seasoned Division 2 player I know I've been spoiled by one of the best cover mechanics out there but the system here feels way too clunky and awkward and there are been dozens times i've died whilst either stuck in cover or not been able to get into it. i also think that the cover system is essential while playing solo (to reload or waiting for skills to recharge) but when i've been playing as a squad of three we almost never used cover as we coordinated and synced our skills to tear through enemies. this squad play is, for me, the most dynamic, fun and devastating way to experience the game but not everyone will be able (or want) to have that experience.

  19. So in the end game at world level 15 how big of a boost to legendary drops are we gonna get cuz I have been farming for like 4 days now and only have two to show for it and I'm using the og farm and I'm on world level 5

  20. To be honest, with this kill to heal mechanic, I feel there should be significantly less cover. Cover did nothing more then get in my way and rarely got me killed. They gotta commit to this chaotic fast pace gameplay and really let us let loose. Cover is just plain annoying. Bigger areas for fighting would be much better.
Something tells me the "Kill to Heal" function wasn't intentional.

And just an observation, but I feel it was a forced mechanic because they just simply can't figure out how to make a good cover system.
Saying we "Broke it" may just be a convenient excuse.
But we'll see after whatever day/week/month 1 patch after it's full release.

  21. I play a trickster and cover is used between cooldowns momentarily all the the time…it works well for me 99% of time..very annoying when you die because it didn't tho

  22. This is just my opinion however, considering how aggressive you have to play the game due to the healing and abilities the cover system has not bothered me so much, I don't use it much and it seems okay when I have used it but, I like getting in the enemies faces so it might just be the way I play.
