Outriders is a third-person shooter mixed with elements from role-playing games. In the beginning of the game, players create their custom characters and choose from four classes, each of them has unique abilities that the players can utilize. The four classes include the Trickster, which has the ability to manipulate time, the Pyromancer, which can manipulate fire, the Devastator, which can unleash seismic attacks, and the Technomancer, which uses turrets and other devices. These special skills have a short cooldown time and can be combined with other skills for maximum effects. The game features a skill tree that allows players to unlock and upgrade their skills.

Players can use different weapons such as shotguns and assault rifles to defeat enemies, and firearms can be customized with weapon mods. Players can hide behind cover to shield themselves from enemy attacks, though health will only regenerate if the player manages to hurt or kill enemies. Players combat both monsters and human enemies. As the player progresses, the world level (the game’s equivalent to gameplay difficulty) will increase. If the world level is high, it is more likely for the player to get high-end loot from defeated enemies.

The game incorporates various role-playing elements. As the players explore, they can explore different hub areas, talk to non-playable characters and complete side missions. In cutscenes a dialogue tree allows to decide the outcome of some conversations, though it does not affect the story’s progression. The game can be played solo, but players can also complete the game together with two other players.

  1. Not a fan of an everything nerf, I thought since this wasn't live service they were going to kill off fun builds. Reminds me of Wolcen which launched and people loved then the devs killed the fun off and everyone stopped playing.

  2. Build diversity is pretty damn bad in endgame, they needed to buff some things instead of nerf others.
With the time nerf and 2 of my skill nerfs I need to drop another tier If I want to get gold reward.

  3. Well it looks like the devs are making the classic mistake that all looter shooters have been doing over recent years. Unfortunately, that is to nerf anything that is perceived to be the meta instead of buffing the other skills and skill trees that are clearly underperforming to help create build diversity. Even with these nerfs to dps builds, there is little or no reason to bother running a support or anomaly build (Devastator is the exception) in expeditions especially with the clear times being tightened up even more. In my opinion they should have started the balance changes with buffs to create build diversity not hit everything with the nerf hammer.

  4. didnt think it was op? bro 3 shotting things at CT 13? (thats where i was at with a few friends) combine that with infinite ammo? How doesnt that sound over powered? Look im all for the super over the top builds but that makes it only 1 meta. Technomancer blight rounds meta. I love tanks (though i wish golem would negate knockdown being on a long cd and all) but i have only seen blight round builds thats it. That sounds super boring to me. Only 1 class being "meta" because the ash rounds on pyro doesnt seem as good even on paper. So i do appreciate the nerf i also do understand over nerfing things. Also, idk how i feel about that expedition buff having such a shorter window.

  5. The only reason games get nerf so much is because y’all gaming YouTubers need content and a good amount can’t put out good videos without showing glitches and exploits 👎🏾

  6. I know the bullet builds are cracked but that seems to be a little heavy handed. The idea should have been to reign them in. Not make them the equivalent to status based weapon dmg buffs.

If tricks skills werent bugged or terrible maybe wed actually try to run a hit and run build.

  7. wow I've been busting my nuts to try and beat the Historian, bounty hunt and monster hunt quests so I could get a free legendary. Well thanks to exploiters It's a waste of my time now. Thanks a lot now a legendary isn't even a reward. Also imagine nerfing everyone's fun in a PVE game XD You want to kill your game? because this is one way to do it. OH and how about they fix the ridiculous co-op scaling.

  8. So did massive take over as devs? Nerf everything that people are using cause "build diversity". Let us play what we want …not a good start considering their shit server start.

  9. Not happy with the nerfs and on top of that they reduced timers in challenge tiers?!? So unless you already have the perfect build challenge tiers are going to by a struggle to get gold. RIP to all those people like me that actually did all the main story & side quests and are now just getting to the challenge tiers.

  10. They already starting with the bull shit. Nerfs, I’ve already heard the community starting to bitch about Techno, and Pyro saying they too strong or broken. How about progress some more, and really learn how to play your character. Even during story I had to switch my techno skills up depending on the situation. Yea this game is a looter shooter. But shooting is honestly secondary to skills.

  11. Are the nerfs out now or are they being released next week? I know the patch notes got released today, but I keep seeing people say that the changes won’t actually come into play until next week. I’m confused.

  12. Instead of nerfing everything powerful, they need to buff the weaker stuff. Show devastator some love. It’s a pve only game so there’s no excuse. Also the expedition timer nerf is just dumb. It’s like they’re only focusing on the streamers/youtubers that blitz everything and make everything look easy with the most op builds because they play 20 hrs a day, which is bad representation of 99% of their player base

  13. Genuine question, once you get to ct15 and done eye of the storm, what is everyone doing for fun in the game? Its been out for less than a week and I'm a little bored tbh. Feels as if it needs more content to make the OP builds more balanced not nerf builds because they make current content to easy.

  14. Lol @ the whining in the comments. I swear gamers these days are just the worst. I can't imagine wanting to be a game developer in today's ridiculous gaming climate.

  15. Fk this is ridiculous the game is only a week old and they want to nerf stuff this is starting to sound like division 2 all over again if it ain't broke don't fix

  16. They want to nerf the chars before its even possible to play… Still crashing on inventory exit…
Its just the devs trying to slow our game advancement so we don't leave the game before they patch it.

  17. They should not be nerfing the any of the characters at all and because of their decision too often Earth these characters Me and a buddy of mine are asking for refund on the game.

  18. So if im understanding this correctly they just increased the ttk on the endgame which is essentially a series of time trials with little room for error or viable build options. Time trials are the worst type of activity only slightly better than escort missions. If they truly wanted build diversity time trials is not the way to go, their very nature requires extreme efficiency and optimization. Having a score or points based system would have been far better or build diversity. Reward players for killing enemies in rapid secession or with multiple statuses or for landing multiple crits and give diminishing returns on one points awarded for doing things like "kill 10 enemies with blighted rounds" multiple times in succession. One trick pony bullets builds wont be effective for building a large score and getting better rewards

  19. None of the expeditions got "easier". In what universe is a LOWER time better? It's now HARDER to get gold/silver/bronze. That's what a lower time means.

  20. Outnerfers just became the same as the other games when promised we would be allowed to be powerful have fun well obviously we aren’t now keep us weak bigger grind for shit rewards solo players with real life’s have no chance in end game or good drops so what’s point to keep playing we aren’t sad no life youtubers that they obviously are looking at and fucked the main player base instead thankgod for gamepass

  21. These YouTubers and game developers are a bunch of fn clowns. The YouTubers strike again. I told ppl after THE DEMO was NERFED this game was in trouble. They're gonna nerf the only good things we like about the game. And they're not done nerfing. Its crazy cause this BULLSHIT has been CRASHING ALL DAY.
    F U for stealing my $60

  22. When I tried the demo I put it on closed game just so I could learn it and 2 random people joined in killed all bad guy's then left.
That along with the UI being for a PC not a console did it for me.
I can sum up all the patch notes into one simple sentence:

THIS GAME IS CRAP DON'T BOTHER!

I mean minor bugs and things going wrong you can forgive but this game needs a major overhaul just like cyberpunk 2077.

I know there are some people that think it's great but most gamers will give up on it after a couple of months.

It's like sitting down to Sunday dinner. Your meats there and so's the mash and veg but no gravy or Yorkshire puds.

Some good ideas and the graphics are phenomenal but it wants to be taken back to the development stage and more work putting in starting with the console UI.

When I tried it it was more like a BETA game that they used to release so they could iron out most of the bugs but it sounds like the demo was just a sneek peek at the game and no further work was done.
I should have guessed that by the short window of time between demo release and game release.

P.S. these aren't just my views but the views of about 70 – 80% of xbox gamers I've spoken too.
