To continue on our video game month, we have an original tune that was inspired by my love for video games and anime. OVERSOUL is a mixture of Mega Man, Punch Out, Legend of Zelda, Shaman King, and my love for multi ukulele arrangements. I really wanted to create a song that sums up my style of ukulele. I’ve always included in every bio that I have, that one of the genres of my music is something called “8 bit” I’ve always LOVED the sound of NES music. This was my homage to all the amazing sounds that filled my living room in the late 80’s early 90’s.

The title OVERSOUL comes from Shaman King. One way I interpret “Over soul” is the binding of a spirit into an object by a shaman using their spirit energy. SUPER DORKY. But I can pretty much use that to describe every time I get into a “mode” when I play ukulele. It’s almost like the ukulele and I become one and I speak through it and it speaks through me. That’s why I called this channel “UkuleleOVERSOUL” It is the art that gets created when the ukulele and I become one. I titled this “OVERSOUL” because I feel that this best represented who I am/was as an ukulele player. My love for ukulele, video games, and anime in music form can be heard/seen in this song.
