I hope you peeps enjoy this one!
Original piece is available to purchase here ; https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/921712988/hollow-knight-silksong-original-painting
So cute! Also I think arteza sells wood slices for painting on. Not as nice as the one you used with the fancy hanger, but I think they have a few sizes.
aw so cute!! the thumbnail is on point ๐๐
Hi Emily! Great job those wood pieces are gorgeous! When I paint on wood, I usually do a coat or two of white acrylic paint before sketching out my piece. Also you can mix white acrylic with white school glue to create a homemade gesso
Eventually Iโm gonna get some more wood rounds, Iโve painted some before though sticking to a teal color scheme and for those I used acrylic, it takes to the wood much easier than any other kind of paint. The four I have painted are hooks. I did paint white underneath first though.
This turned so great and so cute ๐
Awesome as usual, will you make videos when you paint the other pieces?
So pretty !
Love you ornament. You did a good job
So cute! I still have not played the Hallow Knight game, one day, maybe. You have to be careful with wood you do need to seal it because it swells and contracts with humidity. Most of the time you can get away with just sealing the front and then your painting will โfloatโ on the top surface and the back can swell or contract while the painting sticks to the other side. You know that you need gesso so that is a given, you can seal the entire round with clear gesso or even mod-podge is ok to use. I am looking forward to see what you create for the other rounds. I do hope that you can get some gesso clear or regular white to help with your paintings. Thank you for sharing your art journey with us, you are truly inspirational and so talented, please keep safe and take care!
It looks amazing!
I just use Posca pens on wood love how these looked I enjoyed your video
AWESOME !!! So cute ๐ Looking forward to see what you come up with for the other piece's ๐ Thanks for sharing ;D
The background is awesome looks realistic, some pretty forrest ๐๐๐๐
So beautiful as always! (You're making picking up the hollow knight game too tempting though! ;P) I actually really like that you used the gouache thicker on the wood and brought it to the edge. I think when it was watered down it was soaking into the wood too much but the way you did it meant you could have brighter colours and still keep the texture of the wood ๐ Makes me want to pick up more wood slices though (I'll let you know my super secret supplier so you can pick up some more too ;D)
you did a great job ๐ gesso does help, but its not always needed, thicker painter can work better, remember to seal the painting so it last longer ๐
