PARALIVES IS LOOKING BETTER THAN EVER: NEW GRAPHICS, HOLIDAY DECOR, CLOTHING OPTIONS DECEMBER 2020

Paralives is looking better than ever –with clutter new build/ items, holiday decor, improved parafolk graphics, new clothing items, and showcasing once again a level of customization with the color wheel. While just a small update, I’m looking forward to seeing what’s in store for Paralives in the next year.

We haven’t yet seen Paralives gameplay, but we have seen character creations, build/buy mode and parafolk like Sebastian and Maggie that have been revealed so far.

Paralives estimated release date is not yet a certainty, so while many want a download today, I predict it’ll be a while.

As always stayed tuned for Paralives news and updates in 2020 on Simmer Erin. I also cover Sims 4 and Sims speculation, news, wishlists and more.

  1. I love the way the graphics are going
They're not so cartoony that they feel silly, the way they are they definitely feel grounded in at least some version of reality to be
But at the same time, they're not so realistic that they're uncanny or likely to age poorly

  2. I was simply shook! I love the new look, it looks super cute, and anybody else notice the animations, particularly Maggie's disapproval animation upon confirming her mismatched socks at 3:10? I hope we get more contextual animations like that in the final product, because they can really add character to the game. I feel like the Sims 4 doesn't have enough of those similar cute but subtle details when compared to Sims 2 or Sims 3.

  3. I think her character design is looking better than before, although it could definitely still use some work. I'd also love to see a character routing somewhere to see how they interact with their environment.

  4. Is it just me but when Maggie reacted with disgust after having her unmatched socks I believe that it’s our first look at personality I don’t know if they started working on it but I do believe it’s a hint on how personality would work

  5. I think the enthusiasm is still there, but people recognise that the game has a long way to go productionwise. The thing that I most noticed was the detail of the shadows. Watch the shadows on Maggie as she turns around, on her curves, and even in the wrinkles on her pants. The shadows are awesome!!

The new artistic people on the team have obviously put their own stamp one and made Maggie their own since Roxanne left. She looks good. Although, is it just me or does she look just slightly cross-eyed? Perhaps it's just me – maybe I'm cross-eyed, lol!

I'm just the same as you. As long as the characters look playable and believable, they're fine with me. I'm interested chiefly in gameplay and depth of gameplay. Graphics is an added feature.

  6. See a lot of comments requesting/wishing for a more realistic look, while I just LOVE the stylized toon aesthetic. It reminds me of Breathe of the Wild and My time at Portia, it's whimsical and draws me in.

Also it gets me so confused that people wish for higher/reastic graphics but at the same time want the game to run on lower-end computer while also having advanced game system. As a programmer and user of Unity (same game engine as Paralives), I know how fast it takes for your project to chunk hard on the cpu and that’s without higher-end 3D-graphics.
I choose an unique, stylized (the cartoon style) over realistic graphics ten times out of ten if I get to play with a rich game system with depth.

  7. This is such an interesting time for sim games… Paralives is looking more and more appealing while Sims is moving further and further from what the fans want. Unseating The Sims as the only mainstream life sim game would be a huge feat, but they might have picked the best possible time to try. Either way, I'm definitely going to play it and I can't wait for more details.

  8. I think interest might be subdued just because we know there isn't much new that we can talk about. Right now I feel like I'm just gonna wait and see what materializes and how fast. Because we know this game will take a long time of it's gonna be any good. I don't want to think about it all the time, so these once in a while videos are nice just to see what might have changed or is new.

  9. The biggest difference in Maggies appearance that I can see is her eyes and head shape. Her head seems a little slimmer, and her eyes look to be a little bit closer together. There's probably many other things, but those are the most noticeable to me. Love how realistic the knees look, too. I think it all looks really nice, I'm so excited about this game!

  10. Maggie as seen a lot of changes sense we last saw her. I think her textures just really fit the games environment a lot better, I LOVE that she has toes, the knee texture is top notch and I personally cannot wait to get my hands on this game <3 I have not been disappointed ONCE with the changes they've made and will definitely be sticking around for the release! I only hope it's before December 2021 because I am WAY EXCITED!

  11. I for one am MORE excited and love seeing your videos on the progress they're making with Paralives. Especially as the Sims 4 continues to disappoint me. I've heard other YouTubers say their viewership has also gone down lately, but I think it's just that people are going back to work after quarantine. I feel like Maggie's hair is less red and I liked the color better before but they also got rid of that faint black outline around her that made her look 2D. Definitely looking forward to more improvements and game play videos <3

  12. I'm still not there yet with the graphic, but otherwise I love all those customizations. This is where this game wins it with me, I can see all the potential for players to unleash their creative minds. I can't wait to see more, and I can't wait to see if this game will be able to rival the Sims, the simulation genre certainly needs it.

  13. I absolutely love how they can sit on floor/ cushions. This seems so realistic to me!

Very excited for this game & will happily wait. I’d rather have a well developed game at release than an earlier release with missing features/ bugs etc.

I feel like her body looks much better, but her face still seems a little flat.

Miss matching socks is cute but certainly not a game defining feature for me. My concern is that. Massive focus on small features will impact on the quality of the actual game play.

I think it’s well recognised with other life simulation games that it doesn’t matter how good the game looks, if the gameplay doesn’t meet the quality throughout the rest of the game.

Honestly that’s the main thing I want for paralives is to have good gameplay with replay ability.

  14. Me/players: give us a colour wheel and hex codes
Sims 4/EA: best we can do is swatches with off looking colours releases adjustable swatches
Paralives: has skin tones that look correct, colour wheel and hex codes from the beginning
    Sims 4/EA: shocked Pikachu face

  15. I am really looking forward to this. I do expect them to increase the changes as time goes on. I just hope they don't get bought out by EA. That is likely paranoia.

I really want more simulation games besides The Sims.

  16. did no one notice how when they put the red ankle sock on maggie she made a face like she didn’t like it and then when they were changing her sweater she didn’t react until they picked one that she might’ve liked so she smiled and like nodded in approval?? like do the paras have their own preferences as far as clothing?

  17. Wow! This game is getting more and more gorgeous every time we see it! I think Maggie looks a lot better than last time we saw her! Not that she looked bad before, but I'm glad to see some improvements 🙂

  18. Hello Erin. (by the way, the window had shadow leaves falling off the tree so cool. So like fall) I saw how well thought out the CAS was done. I must admit I would have liked a more realistic pretty face system to start with – not so cartoonie – I'm not really into that. Sad – but we can change that with facial sliders and more realistic facial coloring or maybe CC can be made to tweak it- hopefully. This is big the avatar goes in to CAS at the site of the game play not into a special window less wait time …. Wow! Erin, What official stage are they now in game development? Will they be working on personalities next, or their equivalent of traits. I hope the mod development tool will be available at the launch of this game. Clothes and hair will be awesome, which will attract most of our fashion players and if the mod community sees a fully functioning Mod tool they may make CC quickly. lol. Stay safe and enjoy the Holidays

  19. Ngl I think the graphics got worse in terms of my personal preference. While still VERY different, the graphics of Paralives gives me Wolf Among Us vibes and all I can say is ew…. I'm okay with comic book style games, but on the more subtle side. Something about this just reminds me about Wolf Among Us and I can't quite put my finger on what it is exactly.

  20. I’m still not a fan of the look of this game, like you said, she was still too 2D for you. I feel that way about this game. I am interested in seeing where it goes, but it’s true that the long wait kinda has me temporarily walking away from it. I like to check in on it here and there, but mostly, it isn’t on my mind. I like the mix match and the layering though.
