  1. Phreak a quibble about your proposition that if you're the literal best player in the world you automatically must have a very high winrate because the matchmaker literally can't find a better player to put against you. Can't/doesn't the matchmaker compensate for this by just giving you weaker teammates? Like even if Alpha made a literally perfect AI player that always did the exact best move in every circumstance, the matchmaker could still limit it to a 50/50 winrate by giving it iron 4 teammates and challenger opponents to force it to lose as often as it wins. I think your other contention–that you climb because you have a higher winrate, is the right take here. The matchmaker obviously operates within reason to try to make not only the overall match fair, but also individual lane matchups somewhat fair, because while a game with 2 challenger players and 8 silver players could be fair MMR-wise, it would be a weird and unfun game for the actual players so it avoids that. But it does seem to be the case that for the tippy-top challenger players battling for the number 1 spot they still tend to have pretty close to a 50/50 winrate (discounting all the games they stomped in low MMR on their way up) as the matchmaker can and does give them relatively weaker teammates to balance out their outrageously high individual MMR.

  2. I know you've had disagreements with LS on Twitter and such, but I hope the two of you are on decent terms. I think your and his patch note rundowns work extremely well in tandem; using both I feel like I can get a perspective on the patch that is as complete as possible without being an actual challenger level player or coach. I really appreciate that combination as a resource, being a regional caster and analyst myself.

Regardless, great thorough look at the patch as always. Thanks 🙂

  3. Riot should just kill AP Shyvana entirely. AP Shyvana is weak but one of the most frustrating things to deal with. So it's bad, but also frustrating to play against. So just kill it.

  4. just… give Lich bane its stats back and lower the AD scalling, the more stats they take away from it the more it will favour assassins and Melee champions like Udyr compared to Mages

  5. Hey Phreak, do you think the argument of plat+ winrates being inflated holds when you stop looking a players winrate and instead look at the winrate of the champion? Or are you arguing that the inflation is roughly uniform across the roster so it doesnt matter?

  6. I totally agree that frozen heart still has the inherent problem of building a tank item without having hp feels bad. I don't think this change increases the likelihood of it being purchased significantly.

  7. If the balancing and champ design team would just listen a bit more to phreaks ideas the game could feel a lot better.
I am talking about his idea of defensie stat clarity (closer and clearer Armor/MR values and then visible HP differences) and about his philosphy for ults.

  8. meanwhile: Seraphine
(I really think the duration of her root should scale with ranks in the ability, which is not the case as far as I am aware, and her base damage needs to be lowered a bit, maybe give her q a slightly her ap ratio to compensate, but her lane pressure in bot is too strong for how good she is in team-fights)
ps: I really agree with the take on ultimates and scaling. I play A LOT of MF and I would feel great if the base damage was higher and the scaling worse. Sure: when you are full build having these super high numbers on ult is fun, but when you are behind, your ult deals almost no damage at all.

Phreak: "Oh, I know what I did wrong"….
Me: ….sitting in silence still admiring how impressive all of this is while trying to catch up to what he said two minutes ago…
Phreak, you are smart bruh. Thanks for doing this every patch man. Very interesting and helps a lot!

  10. As a science geek, when you say this change won't do much, or a lot, like maybe a base AD change, if you could mention times when win rates for x change either went up or down that would be amazing
