Only one of us on the team here at sony365 managed to get hold of the PlayStation 5, but we have all had time with the device. Long enough to finally (after 3 months) give you our full 3 Months Review and buying advice in terms of which model to get. Without a doubt this is one of the most polished and well-executed Sony devices ever, so we definitely have no reservations whatsoever in recommending the PS5.

Let us know what you think of the PlayStation 5 in the comments below. I’d especially love to here from the Xperia owners in the community here too – have you gone ahead and bought a PS5, or are you planning to do so (once they’re a littler easier to get hold of)?

  1. Does it support 120hz for 1440p monitors? Or is it still locked at 60? I had to choose an xbox series S for that reason. I love sony but wth are they thinking. I feel like xbox is the way to go for more competitive games like fortnite and MW where the extra frames help. And the ps5 ffor now is just like a living room console for solo campaign games . Just my opinion

  2. Cons for PS5 :
    1) Very hard to get 1 in 2021
    2) Size is XXL for a gaming console
    3) Storage is quite small since the games are large in size
    4) Not a lot of exclusives early in 2021

I do hope they can emulate PS2 and PS3 games, since it is quite on the powerful side of the scale.

  3. Fantastic video as usual Tom. Glad that you will also point out where SONY needs to improve and do better when and where it's warranted. I always believe that one must be a fan……not a fanboy. There's a sharp distinction between those two. The one appreciates, respects, and admires something (in this case SONY) while being critical of it because they want it to be even better. Or fix what they got wrong. The other has a slavish devotion to something and blinds themselves to it's shortcomings, or failures. The fanboy always makes excuses and defends any old crap.

  6. Actually Ps5 is better than xbox:

    • CPU CLOCK

    3.5Ghz vs 3.6Ghz (+2.3% for XSX)

    • GPU (this is important because it's tied to the speed of all GPU caches and other components in the gpu)

    2.23Ghz vs 1.8Ghz (+21% PS5)

    • GPU TRIANGLE RASTER (billions/s)

    8.92 vs 7.3(+20% PS)

    • GPU CULLING RATE (billions/s)
    17.84 vs 14.6(+20% PS5)

    • GPU PIXEL FILL RATE ( Gpixels/s)

    142 ve 116 (+20% PS5)

    • GPU TEXTURE FIL RATE (Gtexels/s)
    321 vs 379 (+16% XSX)

    • SSD RAW

    5.5GB vs 2.4GB (+ 78% PS5)

    • Compressed

17GB vs 6GB (+190% PS5) (this is new cuz is oodle kraken)
Ps5 can full the 16GB of VRAM instantaneous while xbox only can 6GB from 10GB of vram
ps5 is doing more useful work, mark cerny talks about https://youtu.be/ph8LyNIT9sg

As you can see, there are areas that the PS5 has an advantage, its just that these areas are usually dismissed because none of the companies really talks about them since it's easier to market TF's.
But TFs are just one part of a render pipeline.

There is also the fact that having a higher clocked GPU means that the PS5S GPU caches are faster. That potentially increases effective memory bandwidth

And i have only listed all the on-paper stuff, and not any of the custom stuff like the 10 complexion the PS5 or tempest engine. All things that handle tasks that otherwise are done by the CPU freeing up CPU cycles on the PS5. Most people dismiss stuff like this because they don't understand them. Bt these things all play a role in what ends up on our screens.

This is Theoretical Performance , and it is dangerous to rely on, devs dont look to this, they only want to know the real world performance above. https://youtu.be/erxUR9SI4F0

    Ps5
    FP16 (half) performance

    20.58 TFLOPS (2:1)

    FP32 (float) performance

    10.29 TFLOPS

    FP64 (double) performance

    643.1 GFLOPS (1:16)
    Xbox
    FP16 (half) performance

    24.29 TFLOPS (2:1)

    FP32 (float) performance

    12.15 TFLOPS

    FP64 (double) performance
