On Monday, March 29, 2021 at 12 PM ET, we will check out the #Pokémon franchise which consists primarily of four main #product lines; those are the video games, television series (anime), trading card game and movies. This video provides a brief #history of one of the main product lines of Pokémon.
1. A Brief History of TPCi
– The Pokemon Company International (TPCi) began in 1998, as a joint venture between Creatures, Game Freak and Nintendo.
– Creatures had the ideas, Game Freak had the experience and Nintendo had the money.
– Originally, the company existed under the names of The Pokemon Center Company and then The Pokemon Company before merging with Pokemon USA in 2001.
2. Four Main Product Lines
– Video Games: In 1996, the original releases in Japanese included a Green Version
– Television: Originally produced by 4Kids, TPCi brought production in-house in 2013
– Trading Card Game: Originally produced by Wizards of the Coast, TPCi brought production in-house in 2002
– Movies: Primarily theatrically released by either Miramax (Disney) and Warner Bros. with Viz Media handling the video distribution
