Well, it’s finally here. The second half of the Shadowlands Pre-Patch Event. The content meant to wet our beaks, prime our pumps and pique our interests before we delve beyond the veil and into the land of the dead in 2 weeks time.
In this video I’ll tell you everything you need to know about treasures you can get your hands on…Rewards such as a battle pet and gear that can be used to catch up your alts and the most coveted and sought-after reward of all …. a 34 slot bag.
As soon as you log in you’ll be prompted with a quest to go talk to Genn Greymane in Stormwind. If you’re on the Horde side…well, I don’t know who you talk to. Probably someone of equal importance. It’s then you’ll learn what happened to the mighty, strong, armor-clad (yet easily lifted off the ground) leader of the Alliance – Anduin.
You’ll then pick up some quests that make you run errands and deliver messages. You don’t need to be guided through this part – Just talk to the NPCs, kill the baddies and profit.
Once you return to hand in these quests you’ll be able to pick up the quest to head to Icecrown and another to confront Nathanos Blightcaller in The Eastern Plaguelands who will drop an ilvl 115 weapon.
The quickest way to the Plaguelands if you’re Alliance, is to head to Boralus and check for the Arathi Highlands portal that’s sometimes up for the Warfront. Take the portal and fly north. If the portal isn’t up, just take the Boralus portal to Ironforge and fly from there.
If you’re Horde just go to The Undercity and fly East…Wait, does that place still exist? I dunno, you figure it out. Horde stink.
Once you’ve had your Nathanos killshot stolen from you, head back to Stormwind and take the Portal in the Mage Quarter to Old Dalaran. Talk to the Argent Tournament Valiant at Krasus’ Landing and fly into where the action’s happening.
Here you’ll receive 4 daily quests to kill some mobs. (I don’t think I need to walk you through these.. You’ve made it this far, you seem to have at least half a brain). So, do the quests and make sure you’re looting enemies along the way to get the Darkened Scourgestones and Pitch Dark Scourgestones. You’ll be needing these.
Handing in these quests will give you Argent Commendations – a resource used to buy some goodies from the Argent Crusade Quartermaster. The Putrid Geist battle pet costs 20 Commendations and each piece of gear costs 15.
You should now have access to the Rare enemies that spawn throughout the zone. These Rares are throwback raid bosses from Wrath of The Lich King that spawn throughout the zone on a 20 min timer and a full rotation runs around 6h40m. They drop ilvl 110 loot so it’s a great way to gear up new toons and get them ready for Shadowlands.
I highly suggest installing the addons Rarescanner and Tom Cat’s Tours to see all of their spawn locations and exactly what items they drop.
The two most notable rares are Brohnjahm who drops a unique, whopping 34 slot bag and Skadi The Ruthless who has the chance to drop the Blue Proto-Drake Mount that was previously only obtainable from Utgarde Pinnacle. Because they are on a 6h40m full rotation, you could go full try-hard and kill these rares 4 times per day for multiple chances at the loot.
And that’s it, that’s all you need to know. I hope this is enough content to keep you occupied for the next 2 weeks.. Oh… and stay out of the main cities.
