On this week’s episode of Podcast Beyond!, IGN’s weekly PlayStation show, host Jonathon Dornbush is joined by Brian Altano, Lucy O’Brien, and Max Scoville to look back on the year that was for PlayStation. The cast reminisces about the PS5 news cycle this year, how the launch year coped with the lack of in-person events, and the many PS5 and PS4 games we were lucky to have this year.

  1. Oh, Dorno….that was awesome! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Thanks for making this Year in Playstion (and general Year of DoomScrolling/Panic/Frustration) a little bit more fun and informed about my favorite hobby.

    Thanks, Beyond Team🤗

  3. Hey, Jonathon, great show.

Listening to this while playing Immortals Fenyx Rising on the PS5.

    1) Probably the only reason why I was able to get a PS5 was because I have been burnt before with stores not following the dates, so I started checking/refreshing stores website right after the announcement.
    2) Love the Dualsense, I was a sceptic hearing about it but never using it. It definitely change my purchasing choices.

    3) I nearly spat out my drink near the end when Brian said "and as Lucy would say…"

Have a great holiday and see you guys next year!

  4. I think I am still the only person in the world that does not like the haptic feedback. It's just so distracting and jarring and the sounds that come out of the controller in both PS4 and PS5 games is jarringly low quality compared to the TV or headset and the sound is coming from the wrong direction when the object making the sound is infront of you on the TV you don't want the sound coming from your lap. If you had a TV sound bar you would not choose to put it in your lap! I thought I might get used to it all, but a few weeks in and it's still very hard to ignore and focus on the games and get immersed in the games. The bad sounds and over use of vibration just pull you back into the real world when you want be focused and immersed in the game world. The dual sense controller would actually push me away from playing multi-platform games on the PS5 if they are going to make the controller vibrate all the time.

  5. When do you think the humans will realize that it's the globalists that orchestrated the whole covid-19 situation so as to shutdown the economies around the world so they can bankrupt their competition, consolidate the assets and monopolize?? And they get the peasants thinking they're doing a good thing by staying home in their safe spots and wearing diapers on their face. Muwahahaha. You got to hand it to the globalist. Brilliantly well played.

  6. My Christmas was destroyed. There is no way for a shut-in to get a console. Spent over 180 hrs on PS Direct. Payed Playststion $43. In memberships for fast delivery. Have nothing to show for it !

  7. Seriously you guys still can’t figure out his right use the ps button to power off the ps5. It took me one day. You tap the button and move down to select the power button. Not hard to remember. I know I’m order then some of you and ben operated on so many times I can barely remember things from past. Lol. You’ll get there. The PS4 had 7-8 years to get you used to the way the ps button worked. The PS3 didn’t have the same thing.

  8. I love video games, I am 27 and grew up playing N64, then every generation since. I have been living with my parents and working from home. I feel like video games have helped me gwt through. I always played video games but before this I would go out see friends for a drink but I probably won't be able to do that until March or later because of our Senedd (I am from Wales) and games have kept me going

  9. I might as well be listening to 4 Lamborghini owners talk about how their car won best car awards.
For 99% of the people out there this episode means nothing and only reminds them of the console they cannot purchase.
Merry Christmas…. my 2020 ended on CP2077 crashing and not being able to log back in because Sony refunded it and removed it from my library…. without notice 4 days after denying the return.
    YAY SONY!!!!
