the ending would've hit me harder if Ethan looked up and we actually saw his face, but putting us in first person for his death was fine too.

Goodbye the best protective and lovely father ever, and only in Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village i can see character figure like him
I dont know why but out of nowhere i picture ethan, sebastion from evil within, the keeper in his human form from evil within, and subject delta in his human form bioshick meeting eachother while their little ones are playing in a playground just a friendship forming between the four fathers of the years who would go through hell and back just to get their little ones back.
Ethan deserves more than everyone
If this is the end of resident evil well this was a great ending
