Resident Evil Village Ending Explained, And How It Sets Up Resident Evil 9

With Resident Evil Village out now and many having played through the game and gotten to its ending, we can finally talk about this- this is a momentous game, especially in terms of the implications it has for the series, its story, and its future.

Resident Evil Village follows up on the story of RE7, and throughout the game, we make revelations and discover secrets that not only shed new light on the events of its direct predecessor, but also other parts of the series’ lore that go way, way further back in the timeline, while also setting up intriguing things for the future of the franchise. But what are those exactly? Well, that’s exactly what we’re here to discuss.

  1. Why does everyone keep forgetting that besides Leon, Chris, Jill and Claire, there are OTHER more younger established characters who can continue on with the fight?
    Sherry?
    Moira?
    Jake, Wesker's actual son?
Even Natalia has been established as a potential new villain now that Alex Wesker's consciousness resides in her.
Rosemary has such a huge Alice feel.
Already dislike her with that attitude she has.

  2. Why didn’t mother Miranda just sleep with a guy and start a family again? This would of made the most sense. How come Ethan died? How did jack kill Ethan if Zoey stapled his hand back in 7 since he’s supposedly mold and Eveline has no control over him? Just so many plot holes. I swear on those little green bottles we use to heal is say disinfectant, Alcohol kills mold. Explain capcom.

  3. I'm beginning to wonder if the BSAA is THE shadowy organization behind everything in RE… And I think it'd be cool to see Jake and Rose team up imo but not like how they did the game play in RE6

  4. I don't think Ethan is alive because why would he have the same bloody bandage on his hand from 15 something years back? Is either some sort of hallucination, or someone disguised as him, or maybe the developers tried to hint that Ethan is watching over Rose from the afterlife or something, which I don't think they would add such a thing as part of the story.

  6. Man I want a new resident evil that follows the original formula. Re2 remake is my favorite, I like normal zombies and tyrant or two. This game the enemies feel less memorable. There are like 5 main bosses and each of there segments last like an hour for each segment. Not a huge fan of this new style. Lycans, vampires, undead, telekinetic metal giant boss. Its getting wacky. Need Leon both of his games are the best re games. I like this game, but it feel like a different non cannon type thing.

  7. I don't really see a problem with rose becoming a new protagonist or just introducing completely new characters. They did it with Leon in rez 2 we loved him they did it with Ethan and we loved him. Ethan in my opinion is my favorite character from resident evil i hate that it seems to be over. I wouldn't complain at all if he was brought back. They do great with every character they introduce to this franchise.

  8. I dont think rose aged fast, i mean in the case of evelyn, she aged as a 10 years old in just a span of 4 weeks or so and just aged rapidly to an old woman because she didn't take her meds in 3 years while in the baker's house after escaping her handlers while rose as seen in the beginning of re 8 stayed as a normal infant and was able to celebrate her 6th month birthday. It did not even stated that rose as an infant took meds like evelyn does to keep her from aging, also in ethans room theres a document there, a test result for rose that she is a normal healthy baby albeit with the power of the megamycete.

  9. I dont think that’s an alive Ethan at the end. The Megamycete “catalogues” those that it come in context with. That’s why Ethan talks to Eveline after he dies the first time. He is actually speaking to her through the megamycete. I think the Ethan at the end is just Rose seeing her father through the megamycete. That’s why she even mentions she is aware of how alike she is with her father (this doesn’t really explain why she would be sorry for not showing up to his grave the week before though).

  10. i'd rather ethan stay dead, having him physically alive will kill that awesome tear jerking ending. Atleast have him appear only in rose's consciousness acting as her guardian angel of some sorts would be ok, since megamycete takes the consciousness of those who died by it, so technically rose being the new hub for the Hive mind of the mold, ethan is technically inside rose. Ethan lives inside rose, probably including evelyn and the bakers, and i think thats what the duke is talking about that he cannot live a normal life anymore,

  11. i think the concept of present/future storyline would work as we play with Chris in the present timeline and with Rose in the future timeline both of them trying to bring down bsaa an the connections but in the present timeline Chris fails miserably losing his squad and thus he then teaches Rose but doesn't tell her about what happened and slowly Rose discovers what happened and confronts Chris about it and together they take down Bsaa and the connections.
But it would be Resident Evil 6 all over again cuz with Chris any resident evil game now turns into Modern Warfare and Rose is too op to be a Re character. But my guess is rose is probably gonna be nerfed and the game would be set in an Area 51 like place.

  12. Check it-
    Resident Evil Eight
    Resident Evil Viii
    Resident Evil Village
The promo art adds in the letters to make it village

    Resident Evil Nine
    Resident Eviline
They'll just remove or cloud the N for promo art. RE9 will be called Eviline, you watch.

  13. So the mold, the thing found in the cave, is it natural, where is it from, how did it get there, are these questions known by anybody? Or any cool ideas 🤔
