The handcannon have more power in comparision to the wolfsbane but in the wolfsbane description says is very effective against werewolves don't you think the wolfsbane have a damage multiplier for werewolves?
I cheked the wiki and the wolfsbane have 5800 of power against the lycans
So the Wolfsbane description seems true that it does maybe double damage to lycan type enemies since it out damaged the S.T.A.K.E
The stake is absolute insanity in this game!
Alright so Wolfsbane is powerful, but only against Lycans. If we find a mutated BOW elephant in this game definately the Handcannon will beat it.
I think the stats for wolfsbane and stake were switched for balancing reasons.

Everyone keep in mind the handcannon uses sniper rifle ammo so it's better to think of it as a replacement to the sniper than the magnums. Do you want a scoped weapon doing 1500 damage or are you willing to ditch the scope for 3200 damage
I love the design of the Wolfsbane. But it only holds max 7 bullets, and the reloading time is slow. The fully upgraded S.T.A.K.E. is super powerful, holds 28 bullets, and reloads fast since it uses clips.
first time I know this. it pretty confused me. since Re always love Revolver. when versus automatic type. automatic always inferior.
claire's revolver in re2remake more powerful than Leon's Matilda. or even Jill's, Chris's, or Albert's samurai edge. even they uses same 9mm bullet…
desert eagle .50AE always inferior to s&w m29 44magnum. or even colt python 357magnum.
killer7 is seems superior than broken butterfly at the beginning. but far inferior in Max upgrade. since it doesn't have exclusive upgrade. while broken butterfly have. and they uses same 45magnum bullet.
when found out that handcannon in RE8 is weaker than stake or stake is higher damage in number than wolfbane is very surprised me.
PS. I think re7 and re8 is Capcom's experiment to make a new class of weapon. which is "mini Magnum " or "fake Magnum ". the class of weapon that acts like Magnum. dealt weaker damage. but less expensive ammunition or easier to find.
in re7. it's the handgun that uses enhanced ammo.
in re8. it's the handgun that uses rifle ammo.
in next RE. there may have the handgun that uses shotgun shell or explosive round.

So the handcannon isnt really a handcannon. At least not compared to the other magnums.
I think they accidentally applied the werewolf weakness to all enemies with the Wolfbane. This will probably get fixed in a patch

I got a feeling that Capcom will put an update to buff the hand cannon power to be more than the Wolfbane and STAKE.
Remember when maxing out a weapon gave an option to take it beyond its threshold? RE4 merchant remembers.
Still, S.T.A.K.E is the best. While wolfbane is reloading, stake still blasting
