  1. Great to have such varied opinions. This is how it should be! Highlighting that reviews are opinions. Especially as far as story and characters go. I'm not a big Ethan fan either but I know people who do like him.

  2. Maaan, she keeps spreading that wrong pronounciation of Dimitrescu. They should just ask a romanian person, hell, I remember Bless was pronouncing it correctly right off the bat.

  3. One of the things I hate about games coverage is the response of people when someone doesnโ€™t like the game theyโ€™re reviewing. The response to Blessing and Greg on Twitter was so annoying, people really canโ€™t take any form of criticism, they didnโ€™t deserve that.

  4. I personally could give less fucks about the 'lore' of Resident Evil.
I think the weakest parts of RE7 were where they tried to connect it to 'the lore'.
'The lore' is the last reason I would ever pick up, play or ever recommend a Resident Evil game.
Nor has the writing ever been a reason I've come back to any of these games.
It's all about the moment to moment atmosphere and experience. And that's fine.

Also: Please force Blessing to play Alien Isolation.

  5. I think it was intentional for Ethan to be a blank slate type character. They always obscure his face because they want to player to really feel like theyโ€™re him. Heโ€™s supposed to relay your thoughts or reactions on screen, and in RE7 he did a great job of that.

  6. Tim got me so excited to play it. Lots of great points mentioned. He really loved it. Greg Miller not so much, but I mean he reviewed Predator Hunting Grounds and The Avengers very highly LOL. RE8 is getting a lot of positive reviews, including people in the community. So I am hyped. It's 60$, not 70$ btw.

  7. They all make a huge mistake by playing a Resident Evil Game on normal difficulty cus RE Games a least the new ones are ment to be played in Hardcore difficulty playing it on normal or anything below is like playing a action/adventure not a Survival Horror Game . Capcom needs to do is change the difficulty settings on normal to Hardcore settings that way more people will be able to experience the real survival horror experience

  8. Yo all this time I thought that was Tim's greenscreen backdrop, didn't realise that was his actual setup! As a fellow home theatre enthusiast who also runs a kick ass 4K HDR projector with 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos surround sound speaker setup, nice one Tim! My respect level for you just went up 100x ๐Ÿ˜€

  9. The thing is I'm not worried about how this game ties into the others and it 100% would've been better storywise if it was never connected to RE bc then the dope parts of the story with the new villains would be able to exist on their own.

  10. Honestly I think it's the lack of vr option. I played 7 in vr so I can see where someone would be apprehensive to finish in that format. I would like to hear from a pc player that mods village, plays it in vr and hear if they felt any form of dread.

  11. Funny that Ethan ends up being pretty much like Alice in the movies. Inserted in the story by force and never felt right.

As for the game itself I'm getting some Evil Within 2 vibes from what I'm hearing. Small "open world" hub areas connected through linear set pieces and "dungeons".

Also I really don't want to dictate how people enjoy their games and stories but to me the RE Lore has always been Mortal Kombat levels of weird, disgruntled and badly planned.. but it has like 8 mainline games, another 10 spin offs. They have no idea what to do with the "RE Lore" and people's expectations should've been lowered when they saw vampires and werewolves in a RE game.

Me, I'll play this as if its Bloodborne The FPS Survival Horror Edition.

  12. Wow what a great video! Great personalities and analysis. My game of the year is Nier Replicant by a long shot. Can't quite get into Returnal, difficulty aside, although I'm only at Biome 4. Subscribed!

  13. I just rewatched Resident Evil 7 Review – Kinda Funny Gamescast Ep. 104 – it was a totally superior review to watch because of Colin…his style & opinion just adds to it. This channel still feels broken.

  15. ok i know that Capcom instructed people that it's Lady Dimitresc, but as a romanian it's 1000% Lady DimitrescU… there are no soft letters in the romanian language.

  16. I honestly feel like Resident Evil should be evolving way more than it has. All Capcom seem interested in doing is doing different kinds of horror, when what they should be doing is evolving the systems. Do more with NPCs. Do more with mechanics and features.

Imagine playing as Leon/Claire going to Paris because Chris Redfield sent a distress warning saying that the Parisian branch of Umbrella is still developing the T-Virus, even after all that's happened with Raccoon City. So Leon and Claire go as part of a anti-Bioweapon Taskforce, working with Parisian officers, they storm the building in the light of day with a search warrant to tear the place up until they find Chris Redfield. Then somebody puts the building into lockdown and shit starts happening — in real time, we see zombies killing the police and within 30 seconds the police rise up as zombies. We see NPCs stuck in certain places and if you manage to save them, they'll offer you things — information, codes, keys, ammo, location of weapons, secret stashes, location of save rooms etc., — imagine if Leon got off a floor and immediately sees someone hanging off the side of a rail yelling for help. Upon seeing that the room is also filled with zombies, the player decides to abandon conservation, breaks out the shotgun/grenade launcher and clears the room quickly and save the guy before he falls to his death. He then offers you a keycard to a room with experimental weapons, and if you then escort him to a safe room, he will offer you new information — like telling you where he saw some herbs on the 3F, which is then marked on your map.

It's this kind of systemic evolution that will truly take RE to the next level of experience. Right now, they are wasting time on aesthetic changes that are superficial, and they need to recognize that. One day, these games are going to feel as stale as COD and they need to change before that happens.
