  1. I really loved The Medium. But it seems like most of the criticism, including what was said here, is criticizing it as a survival horror game, which it's not. I would call it more of a walking-sim ("narrative adventure game"), with a horror-backdrop, and as such, I'd rate it among the best (walk sims). They themselves said it's more comparable to Amnesia, than Silent Hill.

The 90's style fixed camera even helps world build in a way, since the game takes place in the 90s. And most impressively, the second half of the game is where it differentiates itself from any other more tropey horror game.

The most impressive thing about The Medium was that it's always rooted in reality, Both in-game, and in real-life. It's not about stopping you scared, but unsettling you, but keeping you moving forward to satiate the intrigue it builds. It's not simply spooky monster, but finding the real world cause of it.

It even got into (our) real-world, with some super creative time and region specific worldbuilding, providing the Medium with a connection to even the Nazi's forays into the occult ("border sciences", a fairly obscure but documented thing), then additionally addressing the sort of chaos that was additionally stirred when Germany fell, and the Polish People's Republic simply picked up the Nazi's resources.

For a AA narrative adventure, it was way more than I expected. And I loved their confidence in their divisive end. Leaves some good and fun food for thought. They could've just left a lot of tropes for tropes sake, but this was a heck of a well thought out story, with awesome direction throughout.

  3. "We were on a break" – Special Moves become Ross from Friends. 😉
Morning guys, hope you are well. Loved Liam promoting superfast SSD's, that was funny.
I keep telling myself to give the newer RE games a go but never get around to it. Maybe Village will be the one but I've always been tempted by RE7 as it's first person.

  4. I've definitely falling prey to trophy hunting. The bug bit me back in 2012 when i got a rush out of getting the plat for Dead Space, and now 410 plats later im still going. I hit some dark times when i would just play any old shit, but I've focused more on quality over quantity recently. I do agree with trophies for games like Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Resident Evil, where it gets you to experience the full package of the game where you would otherwise finish once and move on. As a result, I love those games more. Cheers lads, great pod!

  5. Wondering if anyone is as hopelessly addicted to Dyson Sphere Program as I am? One single game and my game pass is suddenly unused, my small list of upcoming games forgotten, I have owned it for 9 days and played 177.3 hours. If I wasnt having so much fun I would be so very worried. Great podcast as always to go with my coffee

  6. You say the Medium is not on playstation but did you see the custom controller that was released that had the playstation symbols on the box hahaha

I was really blown away that Biomutant finally got a release date. May 25th is closer than I was expecting. Really looking forward to that one. Just hope I can save up in time now.

Has anyone in the team played TemTem? Pokemon but not Nintendo. I am finding it surprisingly engaging and fun, apart from a bug where I cannot trade!

Excellent Pod again guys. Glad to see a Video but completely understand the delay. Don't burn yourselves out! Take care of yourselves and relax when you can.

  7. Dishonored 2 did something similar to the medium's 2 world thing. Except it was more like 2 different points in time. Stealth kills were so much fun with this mechanic, not to mention the level design. I wish Arkane had done more with it
