Before I watch this video, I just want to point out that Resident Evil 4 is better because it has Leon Scott Kennedy.
Aaaand after watching this video, I have concluded that Resident Evil Village does not, in fact, star Leon Scott Kennedy. Points go Resident Evil 4.
this franchise needs to go back to third person view.
4 just gets so badd. I've just played 4 to death so I'm kinda cool with some new stuff. I'm only teasing but I liked PS2 era gameplay logic I'm weird. Bring back Choas legion! Shadows of Rome? Lol add fetch quests to the first neir. Sure go for it. Lol 4 is just so low. When you get to 4s lab it's just an extermination gone wrong. I can't believe how crazy 4s bosses go. Years later it's still really fun.
In Village I would’ve liked to have seen the Cadou squirming if you dismembered enemies kinda like Las Plagas in RE4.
4 was always my favorite Resident Evil but 8 is quickly becoming my new favorite. Its so good I love it.
Re4 is harder
The new boys are too young for this discussion. I figured it would be Andre and maybe even his dad.
'How is this guy still alive?' Yeah about that…
Yes, that scary part… OMG My heart felt like it was gonna stop a few times
Why can’t we get an RE game with areas with as much depth as the the REmake’s mansion and RE2make’s police station. I love how long you spend in each backtracking and making progress in opening doors. If they do it it’s one area with a lot of depth and the rest of the areas are linear or have a little depth.
Village is better 😀
Wow… this VS is heavily biased.
RE4 was my first RE game, but it's long become one of the ones I play the least. Honestly I prefer my enemies actually being monsters to just villagers that occasionally have a bug pop out. So was surprised to see RE4 win the "enemies" category.
Also environment wise, I prefer the varied colour tones in Village to the sepia earth tones of of RE4. Every area looks and feel the same to me over the course of the game. In comparison Village's colours shifts over the course of the day. Still there was so much atmosphere to coming across this wintery village with blowing snowy mists all over, and seeing lanterns light up areas. Then as the day goes on the environment changes. Also inside the houses Village really shines as well. I'll take Castle Demitrescue any day over Salazars.
I also prefer the Duke to the Merchent. Simply because he has more to say. He's not any less enigmatic or a mystery. Still don't know where he came from, or his motives in any of this, but he's very likable, and he has a personality. The Merchant of RE4 though is just … well a merchant, and that's it. There isn't anything more to him.
Either way I think a lot of these VS points are heavily debatable, and honestly I think the slant was given over in many ways to RE4 nostalgia. Which personally I'm well over at this point.
4, but village is a very fun game to play through, and I’m shooting for a platinum trophy.
Thanks for using some of my footage and giving credit. Much appreciated ^^
Wuav, comparing controls between two games that are almost 20 years apart, and in doing so, knocking the old game for not having the conveniences of the newer one? I'm tired of RE4 worshippers, but in this battle I'm siding with 4 no question.
RE4 is a game designer’s wet dream. If you really break it down, all Leon can do is stand still and point and shoot; and that simplicity is part of how it immediately gets you into this mode of consciously analyzing situations and being intentional about everything you do. Corralling enemies into a single spot and headshot-ing one of them to set the whole group up for a juicy roundhouse kick seems so basic, but having to actively look for ways to achieve that scenario never stops being engaging.
It takes a pretty basic combat loop of directional body damage/3D aiming and melee system, and then pushes it to the absolute limit by having so many diverse encounters and enemy types. Moving platforms, armored enemies, tight corridors, open villages. The game never stops throwing new things at you throughout the whole 15-20 hours, it's incredible. It's almost nintendo-like in that it feels like it tries to squeeze everything out of its mechanics, constantly surprises you and never seems to repeat itself. And beyond that the game has a good sense of peaks and valleys, with plenty of quiet, atmospheric moments in between some of the more climactic battles.
All the different weapons, the upgrade system, enemy types, random loot drops: they add to the basic formula in a way that’s so elegant and immediate that it makes every modern action RPG looter shooter whatever the hell hybrid look like a dry, convoluted Excel spreadsheet by comparison. It’s so no-nonsense that I honestly struggle to come up with more ways to explain why it’s so good that aren't insanely obvious. I like RE8, but RE4 is honestly one of the finest video games ever crafted.
RE4 vs RE8: Who wins?
Answer: House Beneviento
It never came to 3DS either.
I really like village. It is one of the games I played in a couple of years where I enjoyed myself from start to finish. It is goofy, the villians are scooby doo esque baddies and things escalate from 10 to 150 within the span of a second. It is the same feeling I had when playing resident evil 4 back when I was a child. I would definitely put it alongside resident evil 4 as one of my favourite RE ever.
Bad comparison. My favorite re game has always been Re4 and beat it atleast 200 times. But i feel people are not fair against Re village. Only time Will tell how the game evolve in the next coming years
Re4 was a great ride but re8 was more immersive.
This game also gave me Metroid prime vibes
Resident Evil 4 is still hands down my favorite. But Resident Evil Village is a good game that deserves the title Resident Evil.
Resident evil 8 💯💯👏👏👏💖💖💖💖👍👍👍👍👍👌🔥🔥🔥🏆
Nobody talks about the car accident that took place at the start of Re8, there is 1 dead soldier and the driver disappeared like in the beginning of Re4 and moreover, there is also the ringing bell after the attack on the village as in Re4, the details are fascinating !
Resident evil 8 it’s better than re 4 I had more fun playing re 8 then re4
Resident evil 4 the best ever
Well, to be fair, RE4 is populated by people with Mexican accent.
So, technically, both games present villagers with "american" accents.
