Resident Evil Village[a] is an upcoming survival horror game developed and published by Capcom. It is the tenth main installment in the Resident Evil series and a narrative sequel to Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (2017).[1] It also includes an online multiplayer mode, Resident Evil RE:Verse. It was announced at the PlayStation 5 reveal event in June 2020 and is scheduled for release on May 7, 2021, for Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and Stadia.[2][3]

Like Resident Evil 7 (2017), Resident Evil Village uses a first-person perspective. It is set in an explorable village. The inventory management system is similar to that of Resident Evil 4 (2005), featuring a briefcase. Players can buy weapons and items from a merchant, the Duke.[4] The players can also hunt certain animals in the village and have them cooked into dishes by the Duke, eating said dishes allows the player to get advantages such as decreasing the damage taken while blocking.

Resident Evil Village will include a six-player online multiplayer game, Resident Evil RE:Verse.[5]

The Mercenaries Mode will also return in Village. Like previous Resident Evil entries it will be an action-packed arcade style game mode.

Resident Evil Village is set three years after the events of Resident Evil 7.[6] Ethan Winters returns as the protagonist.[7] Ethan has been living with his wife Mia and daughter Rosemary when Chris Redfield and his men suddenly appears, murders his wife in cold blood and kidnaps him, with his baby daughter, to a mysterious European village located in Transylvania, Romania, given the currency used and the names of characters.[8][7][9] Ethan has to traverse the village to rescue Rosemary.[9] The village is governed by four different mutant lords, each controlling their own forces from strongholds within the village. Lady Alcina Dimitrescu,[b] an extremely tall vampire-like aristocrat, leads her three daughters and others from her castle.[11][12] Karl Heisenberg leads a group of werewolf-like creatures from a contemporary factory. Salvatore Moreau commands a number of mermen from a lake adjacent to the village. Donna Beneviento rules from her mansion, House Beneviento, and controls a puppet named Angie.[13] All houses respond to the deity-like figure Mother Miranda, the ruler of the village who is a β€œpresence worshipped by the villagers.”[9]

  1. I find it so interesting when people complain about an RE game having action elements, as if this series has ever been straight horror. The original games had fantastically creepy atmosphere but you still played trained operatives, such as S.T.A.R.S. members or rookie cops, whose arsenals expanded throughout the game to include such weapons as grenade launchers and magnums, and which games always ended with time-limited shoot-outs and a rocket launcher. I'm not disappointed to hear that RE8 has action elements because I've never been under the impression that any of the RE games (especially the classics) have been particularly scary. In fact, the only entries that have scared me have been RE4 and RE7 :/ But anywho, I'm really digging the vibes of this game. The first-person perspective, return of Ethan (the most intriguing protag. of the series imo, simply bc he's not a suplexing, boulder-punching action hero), enemy variety, and Gothic and folkloric elements all really appeal to me πŸ˜€

  2. I tried the demo of both 7 and 8, and I just can't get into first person Resident Evil. LOVE the two recent remakes though. 3rd person RE just feels so right. Hopefully we get a Revelations 3 soon.

  3. So the game takes place in both a castle and village just like re4? (Best re game ever), and they also brought back the the merchant, boxes, and the feature where zombies drop loot? This is gonna be a blast

  4. I skipped 7 when it came out. Because of this game I decided to give it a try as it was Free.
Man I loved it!! Don't scare to easy and that game really made anxious in certain parts. Looking forward to this and I really hope they don't drop the horror just to go Guns blazing like they did in the past.

Worth A Buy, listen to his honest review and links to others that all say this is not worth your money as it is.

  6. well since there hasn't been an actual RE-game since Mikami Shinji left, you can just enjoy these games on their own merit. they will always lose when compared to the original entries from way back when πŸ˜›

(and, dude, don't play this shooter on a console with a controller. c'mon, you're embarrassing yourself :D)

also don't be arrogant and say "or however you say it". do some research on how a name is pronounced. it's not THAT much work (:

  7. its ridiculous how bi-polar the reviews are, luckily most enjoyed the game but some reviewers strong points were others weaknesses. things like run time (from 8-15 hours) and enemy variety (a lot /not enough) boss diversity and even how original a game it is had contradicting opinions everywhere. its amazing how by constantly reinventing itself r.e. has very different fans expecting different things.
