This game was incredible. The gameplay, the ambiance, the atmosphere… It was damn near perfect. It was punishing, in all the best ways possible. It felt so satisfying having the perfect run to get through the next boss. It Takes Two is still the GOTY in my opinion, but this game comes in a close second.
As for the game movie, there are some traditional cinematic “cutscenes” here and there, but most of the story is told through the house scenes and through audio logs. Since the environment is constantly changing anyway, there is not set path to follow, and thus it can make the game movie feel a bit disjointed at times. But that’s how the game is supposed to feel, so I feel like it works for game movie purposes. Also, this is a Roguelike game, so deaths are a big part of the whole experience. We left a bunch of the deaths in since it’s stitched into the narrative.

Here's my explaanstion of the story: The aliens of atropos designed a technology that can clone a sentient being's mind and store it in their system. Basically a planet sized quantum computer. There are references of weird scanners throughout the game.The virtual environment is designed so that the mind captured in it does not go insane by encorporating the minds of all sentient beings that died before and the players memories and feelings. The player dies in the rocket crash and the planet scans her mind and put it in the virtual environment where it loops again and again each time corrupting it's base functions. The computer tries it's level best to create a good simulated reality but fails as it's virtual world has limited data to begin with and instead goes deeper into the sub conscious memories of the player. Once those datas are also exhausted, the player's mind becomes nothing more than a useless data clump corrupted beyond recognition. These quantum computer must have been made to make those aliens immortal but instead corrupted and captured their minds into eternal torment. There is no escape as the player and those aliens live in a virtual construct. They can only be saved if the planet itself housing the computer gets destroyed or if the computer overloads itself and burns.
The space pilot's manual tells everyone to go to approach forbidden planets and fly straight into massive storms. Obviously
This is the crappiest rehash of an old concept. What a useless game.
Picking up random alien tech and casually integrating it with your suit, it's all fun till you get a face hugger to your face.
I'm gonna warn future viewers – the player dies too easily here, it ruins the plot of the game. Like he dies, and then there's reset, and you left wondering what would have happened if he didn't die.
When he continues from next cycle, a different path is being taken now.
Seek another cutscenes video, wherein player plays well. Absolutely horrendous play on the player's part.

I rather watch the campaign to single player games instead of playing them at this point. I hate playing the same predictable AI in video games. I much rather play against humans that can adjust . Love these videos though, save me a ton of money and still feels like i played the game

I feel dumb but this whole story was just a complete cluster F lol, like game play was intriguing but like the story though. I couldn't figure out what was real and what was an illusion.
So I think that she had a crash because an alien was underwater from the bridge and got her mom killed and took her as well to its own world where she is to relive forever of herself because that's it.
I'd love to see someone do a no death run of this game

The visuals have a Ridely Scott vibe(Prometheus, Alien, Bladerunner), I like it
As a Greek myth nut, the naming for most of these characters and places are kind of amazing. I'm going to mention all the references I hear and make a handy guide for the uninitiated:
Selene (main character)- Original Goddess of the moon
Helios (ship)- original God of the sun
Atropos (planet)- One of the three fates
Apollo (era)- God of the Sun, Music, prophecy and many other things
Phrike (hostile)- a spirit of horror and terror
Brief reference to Hydras and Gorgons in an audio log- snake based monsters (medusa the main example of a Gorgon)
Mention of Olympus- home of the Gods
Astra (link to Astraea)- Goddess of purity, virginity and innocence, or possibly linked to Asteria, the goddess of stars
Ixion (hostile)- a mortal obsessed with fire. Punished by Zeus for attempting to woo his wife by being strapped to a flaming chariot wheel and thrown across the sky, immortal and in constant agony.
Nemesis- Goddess of retribution
Acheron (Tali Acheron in Selene's diary)- Acheron was a river of the Underworld, linked to Misery and woe
Theia- Goddess/titan of pure sight, who gave silver and gold their brightness (mother of Selene and Helios)
Hyperion (hostile)- Titan associated with light
Mention of Ichor- The blood of the Gods, bright gold
Ophion (hostile)- elder Titan, ruled the world with his wife Eurynome, before they were overthrown by Kronos and Rhea
Imagine when you die at the end of your life, you wake up for the first day of middle school. That would be worse than this.
I'm sorry, but the last 3 minutes (supposedly explaining everything) were ridiculous, to say the least. No spoilers here, don't worry.
And here I was, expecting answers… but I'll be leaving disappointed today. But hey, thank to GLP for bringing us another great video!
