Returnal Video Review

Returnal blends elements of shooters, roguelikes, action games, and horror to redefine bullet hell and conjure a mysterious, moody masterpiece.

After reviewing many roguelikes, Mike Epstein sometimes feels like he too is stuck in a loop that punishes his every mistake. He played Returnal for about 25 hours. Despite that, he will almost certainly be back for another run before too long. A review code for the game was provided by the publisher.

  1. I mean, I guess you have to play a game to fairly judge it, but just from the footage here, the bullet hell aspect just looks amazingly terrible.
Blobs and beams everywhere, total visual overkill, not appealing at all, especially in a game that is supposed to be atmospheric.

And regarding the review itself: If you're going to hire someone to read out loud your review – why not find someone who can actually declaim and clearly articulate a text?
You might as well just save yourself the effort and run the review through a speech synthesis program. I'm not trying to be mean to Mr. Hussain, but he talks as if he has a hot potato in his mouth.

  2. This looks really interesting, but I’m just not “good enough” for these dark souls inspired games with crazy high difficulty. When I was younger & had more time for games, I’d have been all over this, but at my skill level now? It’s mostly just frustrating for me to play stuff like this

  3. Did not like it… therr is no sense of progression whatsoever… it becomes utterly repetitive, and the runs are too long… this game is for people who likes to shoot around again and again and again… it is hard, many will find that compelling… but it bore me, because you just have to go back and do all over again, even if the stages are procedural generated… rogue type games not my genre… has potential but it is too repetitive… and at last… the “perks” are always against you! It is like some form of saddistic game! Who plays games to make you feel powerless? Anyway… 70 USD is way too much for this… others may enjoy it, I did not!

  4. Is this worth a download or wait for a physical copy? Best Buy screwed up and didn’t get the shipment. I got an unavailable email. Every store in my area is sold out. Should I wait or download?

  5. PS5's next game will probably just be named  "Kallie Plagge" or "Lucy O'brien" to appease Gamespot, IGN. Days Gone 2, change dot org  probably only needs another 50k signatures to get a sequel and a movie.  I don't have to tell these YouTube channels, especially after some of their reviews of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,  the pressure of going against the mainstream femia. Playstation's CEO needs to hear from you !
