  2. So the Salubri clan bane is like asking for Final Death. You are compelled to save other Kindred while avoiding being eaten by them. Of course they want their fellow vamps to achieve Golconda then, if it takes exceptional willpower to have a Salubri coterie member.

  3. Also I agree with the idea that the mainline Tzimisce shouldn't have Dominate. My homebrew would be instead of Dominate the amalgam for Vicissitude would be with Blood Sorcery. I think that this is more appropriate and more in line with the pagan mystic nature that I often perceive the Dragon clan to have. Of course, actual Koldunic sorcery would still be separate, but the idea that Vicissitude is a bastardization of it is a fun idea to think about.
So for me mainline Tzimisce: Animalism, Blood Sorcery, Protean ; old clan: Animalism, Dominate (or Blood Sorcery), Auspex

  4. yeah i'll fight you on Sandman because it DOES have a built in flaw of you're literally committing the crime and so failure means you're in some way failed to commit said crime. I mean it's up to the ST how much of a flaw that actually is from "you had to flee because a dog barking" to "They open fire on you with a shotgun" but it is a flaw.

side note Obvious Predator also just gives you a one social dice pool plenty with mortal outside of hunting if that doesn't get bought up later. (plus no herd)

  5. Dominate might not be traditional for Tzimisce, BUT it sure is thematic for Dracula! I think that's why V5 Tzimisce have dominate: Dracula was dominating the shit out of everyone in the book and the movies.

  6. Prim Hates on the Salubri (her favorite clan other than Gangrel mind you). Gee, what happened to the Tremere prime chantry again? Destroyed by mortals and had their precious Pyramid shattered? Leaving them a pathetic shadow of their former Usurping selves? That's what I call karma XD On a more serious note, I really love what they did with the Ravnos and Tzimisce. I'd never considered playing one because they just weren't that interesting (Ravnos), and I like how they've made the Tzims more like the old clan.

  7. I wish obeah/valeren wasn't an amalgam and that the 3rd eye was caused by knowing more than a certain amount of the aforementioned discipline(s). Maybe the warrior and watcher paths could be amalgams but vanilla obeah seems best as it's own discipline. I like the idea that if a kindred wants to use obeah they need to brand themselves with something that not only marks them with an inhuman trait but also puts a target for the Tremere literally on their head. Tying the third eye to obeah allows for a healing discipline whist allowing the ST to maintain horror.

  8. I've never really liked the tzimice in earlier editions of vtm. I never really liked vicissitude, I thought it was just gross and didn't really understand how tzimice disciplines fit into the Dracula archetype. Having said that, this new rendition of the old clan has me sold! I might actually play one now if I get the chance.

  9. The Tzimisce should have had Auspex Bloodsorcery Protean. They are my Favorite Clan of all time. So I may be too picky. I like what they did with the clan, but I want to see a Tzimisce specific Blood Sorcery.

  10. No the original lore was retconned into the idiotic virus lore, it even says in the book that Tzimisce had vicissitude long before that elder met some Umbrood in the Umbra that infected him…. then they realized the virus retcon was dumb, so they retconned it away.

  11. the overall of the companion it’s pretty good.
let’s say the truth: people would have preferred disciplines and not amalgams, but this is V5 so let’s be open minded:
    – tzimisce have many new powers. you can call it protean but it will work, basically you miss the free level 1 new power
    – salubri the new powers can work…the clan bane it’s a good idea but only a play test on the long run will tell if it’s balanced or it’s too hard
    – ravnos, meh.
great clan lore revision and interesting to be played.
…presence fills with the new character style but…in spite of fortitude for a man always on the road? (moreover, come on read the 5 powers granted by fortitude and compare them to presence!!)
and this makes the brotherhood with clan gangrel crumble.
gangrel wanderer more phisical oriented (protean)
    ravnos wanderer more mental oriented
    (illusions)
two faces of the same coin. and it was cool.
powers are totally unbalanced for me:
    – chermistry it’s a level 2 that with the amalgam costs as a level 3 for just a distraction.
    – fata morgana, the mechanics are really interesting but due to the amalgam with the same amount of xp spent a gangrel can:
see in the darkness, have no weight, have claws, melt with the earth and turn to mist…
    =0|
this same gangrel can be immune to damages, fire and sun too…
but you as ravnos can charm…so nothing to be worried about, no?

  12. so, Hunger is to be made even more crippling…great. and Tzimisice are to have Humanity…ffs no, just no. And before anyone tells me the new morality can handle paths it cannot, it fails, we playtested it, and it does not work, at all, on any level. Oh and it turns it Justin lied about Vicissitude being back as well, it's rolled into Protean.

  13. I don't know if you will read this, but I did see that Sandman is weirdly OP because it has no flaws when I ran my first game. I decided to homebrew my own flaw rule into sandman.
You can pick one out of the two flaws to be your predator flaw
    1. Prey Exclusion – Conscious (You don't normally feed on awake kin for moral, or simply personal reasons)
    2. Disliked (Based on the description of Sandman, your social awkwardness, and or, anti-social behavior hinders you)
This the best I can come up with for Sandman as a homebrew flaw.
