Riot is fixing Instalocking

VALORANT is your global competitive stage. It’s a 5v5 tac-shooter matchup to plant or defuse the Spike in a one-life-per-round, first to 13 series. More than guns and bullets, you’ll choose an Agent armed with adaptive, swift, and lethal abilities that create opportunities to let your gunplay shine.
Creativity is your greatest weapon.

  1. stupid change, what if u want duelist but then first 4 picks duelist, its stupid, it will make people mald and dodge when they see their agents get picked first

this will only make dodging and toxicty worse

  2. Well if they’re fixing it, that means there’s gonna be a timer to select agent. Doesn’t that mean people will still instalock waiting for the time where it hits 0 so they can select?

  3. They should’ve went role selection like League picking a lane before queuing. That way if you pick duelist role, you will have your chance to pick any duelist role you wanted. Then Riot can just adjust role balancing on each team but I’m pretty sure it’s going to fuck up the queue waiting time if everybody only goes for one role.

    Just an idea here.

  4. They fixed this in league I'm wondering why they are not implementing it in val. The pick order goes from top to bottom and if players grief the select screen you can report them.

  5. You will always have toxic people trying to get Jett or Reyna bc they are the easiest agents to frag with. It’s that simple. The only way to fix instalocking those agents is to either balance them more, or give incentives to players who play support agents. Maybe at the start of each act, tier the agents and adjust xp and RR per agent, so the guy that plays Sage or KJ gets +4 (or whatever amount) RR per ranked game, so instead of +14, they get +18, and instead of -14 they get -10. Then you could have another tier of like, Sova, Brim, Astra, and Omen that are +3 or 2, and leave agents like Jett and Reyna alone. So it would incentivize players to become more proficient with support agents, and cause then to be played more in Ranked.

  6. i would rather see riot finish up the replay system than to fix instalocking problems. Riot is just fixing issues that they think will make ppl happy, as they think adding important things that actually help the players in a competitive esport, are not gonna make as many ppl happy.

  7. Bro this is gonna lead to such long queue times though… Gonna be like league where you have to wait 10 minutes for everyone to pick. Then someone leaves right at the end and it's 25 minutes before you even get into a game. Just let the dude instalock and play your game. He's not gonna be in your next game…

  8. Its easy, if u play ranked be ready to fill in, if u just wanna play what u want go unrated and dodge if needed there. This is a fair process and also fair for losing rr when dodging. I mean ranked is competitive and for people to reach a certain accomplishment, worth or not.

  9. I think the best way to fix instalocking is make the role system like in DOTA, when u choose what role u gonna play and start the game on ur role. Everything will depend on the role you play, do you want to play duelists? Wait 5-6 minutes to start playing, and if you play on controller, you will find the game in 10-30 seconds

  10. they could have just made it so after you pick an agent there is no lock button, until all 4 have chosen their agents, if any agents match then you can talk it out, and when like 3-4 people vote to enter the match the agents get locked in and boom you're in a match
